There are no directions on how to post messages. I lost my husband 18 mos. ago and feel lost, abandoned, and all the rest. I keep putting off tasks that I should be doing, can't seem to stick to one thing and get it done. Anyway, not even sure I'm writing in the right space for loss of spouse. My kids are married, busy, and my phone barely rings, it's a lonely world. I just wish I had the energy to fight off the loneliness and sometimes just being sick and tired of having no one to talk to. Why is it people don't understand how lonely widows can feel? It's a couples world, everyone seems to be too busy to take the time to be generous with their time or avoids the subject altogether. I know some have it worse, some sad stories on here.

Sun...sun...I think your children should remember their mother more than "barely." Even if they're busy, and especially now that you're a widow. Do they remember how they got here?! I'm sorry for your neglect. My Mom would call her mother a lot. We'd go visit and I would beg to leave sometimes, etc. after we'd been there awhile.... I realize how hard that probably was for my Mom to see in me, but I was a restless, impatient teenager ( or maybe even older). This same grandmother lived to 104 yrs. She lived around 25 yrs after losing "her man."
Well, I hope things get less lonely for you. You can go out and reach out in different areas to meet new people. May God bless.

Indecisiveness is a part of grief and depression. I am in the 2nd month of loss, need to sell my late husband's truck and travel trailer because I can't afford payments but I procrastinate and seem not to have strength to do it.
Loneliness - another issue. Yep, we widows are sad and depressing - for others, normal ones. They avoid being around because they don't know what to say and how to behave around a widow. They feel uncomfortable. We remind them - those who are "normal" - about their own mortality, and it's ah - so unpleasant.
Hang in there, SunDown, loss is forever, but grief is finite. It does get better, even though life is bleak now.

Thought I'd mention what God defines as true religion: "visiting widows and orphans in their affliction, and keeping oneself unspotted from the world."

In my part of the world it's a long weekend. Spring is in the air and it's wedding season. I was not invited not even to a single wedding. My friends are all out, profile pics of them and their spouses having the greatest of times. Its a coulpes world indeed! I'm sitting at home alone just crying and wondering why was I chosen for this:( wishing my husband was still here with me.
It's lonely in widow land. I guess we are indeed sad and depressing...... I know I am, through no fault of my own.

I lost my guy in March of this year and the loneliness can get to you. I've always been a loner so I don't think it affects me as much as some. My biggest issue is going places alone. We use to go to dinner at least once a week and I hardly ever go now unless my kids invite me. But...I've realized that that life I had is gone and its not coming back no longer how long I wait. I just need to find the present reality and learn to enjoy it. I've planned two solo RV trips for this Fall/Winter season and I will meet new acquaintances (and my old friends) along the way. Just need to plug along.
