I don't know how to stop missing you! I have attended more things than I ever thought possible, but I can't stop missing you! When I am alone with my thoughts all the memories come flooding back. I do not know how to get through this. I still get that kick in the stomach when I think of you and the fact that you are gone. It is just so unfathomable. I see or talk to the kids and want to share their lives, but you are not here. I look at those beautiful grand daughters and think of how you so adored them and they will have no more new memories of you. Our little grand son due in February will never know you. This so called life without you is miserable because I can't hold you or talk to you or share our days together. I am left to carry on without you and the perminance of this situation reduces me to tears. Hell, everything reduces me to tears because I think of you all the time. How could I not? I know no different. You were by my side for forty years. We scraped and struggled together to make such a wonderful marriage, so truly devoted to each other. You were the better half of me. There would have been no kids or grands without you. I am just overwhelmed with the thought of you not being here. I have cried more these last six months than in my entire life. You seldom ever saw me cry. Tears are supposed to be cleansing, but I feel like shit when I stop. Your absense has affected everything, everyday. Even when I laugh, then I think of you. I miss you being here to share joy. I am so scared to look at the future knowing you aren't here to comfort me. The kids are doing fine, and I put up a good front, but none of them know how I truly feel. I went to Avah's birthday party yesterday and cried half the way there and half the way back. I turn the radio on and something triggers a memory and I cry. We had been down the interstate more times than I can count but you were always there. And now I am alone. Honey the two of us spent most of our time together all those years. We didn't have other couples to hang out with because of our schedules, we did everything together and shared everthing with each other. And I have no one to share with anymore. There is no one on this earth that loved me and needed me as you. And I loved no one or needed anyone as much as I still need you. The only thing keeping me going is knowing each day I exist is a day closer to being reunited with you. I know I have to go on for the kids and grands, but without you I feel so empty. Please Dear whoever help me find a way to stop crying and missing you so much. I love you just as much today as yesterday and I always will. Life is just so very cruel. How long before we are reunited? Any amount of time just seems impossible to fathom. God knows you suffered too much and for too long and I wouldn't want you to suffer any longer. I hope you are at peace, I would have given anything to take your pain and suffering away. So, here I am, trying to cope, adjust, manage, find joy and comfort. find some kind of meaning to losing you but nothing seems to make any sense. I love you Honey and God how I miss you! Forever yours, Michele
I'm sorry that you're hurting so much. Please know that I'm you're friend and I want you to feel free to share your feelings.
Take care of you,
Love,
Roz
I know it's so hard now that he's gone. We are all in the same boat here. Feel free to vent your pain. You are in the right place.
What you are going through must be indescribably anguishing. I too lost my wife, but after four years many pets and no kids together, not the sort of amazing lifetime you describe here. I feel for you. We are here for you.
It is hard being with someone over 40 years, to know how to move Forward without him. I barely remember "me" before him, or without him. I feel so lost and disoriented.

It is so hard. We have such a devotion, a lot of us do, to our spouses and find life without them so unfair. How long must we go on like this, alone and broken hearted?? I often wonder, can you see me? Do you hear me? Come and make me feel better! How will we make it over the next 10 years or more without you?
You had lots of love for your husband. And writing it for us to read is good for the soul. It's like letting it all out. But I am sorry for your tears too. I've cried too many. too. I am sorry you feel worse after crying and not like a weight lifted for a short while.
I wish I had the answers. I know your husband knew that you loved him very much. I can tell just by the way you have written this for all of us to see and for your husband to hear you!
Why life throws us these terrible curves I do not know. People who are awful just kind of flow through life and then there are those like us, who worked and cleaned and took care of our sick spouses and took them to the hospital at midnight and came back home at 6 AM without any sleep only to worry about what's happening to our loved one. The stress is unbelievable. And now we have to do everything without our loves. Sitting the car, touching their hand and kissing it . Hugging them and rubbing their back to help them fall asleep. So many things....now I feel like crying.
I wish your husband hadn't suffered. I know, mine suffered too much too. What we see only those who have seen the same can understand the terrible grief of watching your beloved in a state of sickness that you can do absolutely nothing about, only be there to help while you can.
Please take care. Talk to your doctor if you can't find any sort of peace. I had to because I knew if I didn't I'd be sick myself and not get anything done or care for our animals my spouse loved and I love too.
Oh sadness, give us a break. Clear our minds for a while. Let us have a little peace.
I am so glad we have a place like Daily Strength to come to when we feel so down.
I wish you some peace and pleasant dreams. Take good care please.
Just rest assured your husband loved you and he is waiting and watching over you.
Blessings.
Jeff

Take care of you in between,

Im new to the site. I am in my 6th month of missing my husband Bob. We had been together 35 years when cancer took him from me. I was 18 when we met. I have no concept of a me without him and struggle, sometimes minute by minute with his death.

We truly miss them forever. We think of them always. But the hurt becomes bearable in a way we can't explain. Hold on to the memories for they will comfort you in time. I understand and you are not alone. Sharon
