I guess you could say I was looking as I was at the age of 22 years old and had never dated. Being overweight and shy didn't help any. Larry's sister and my Aunt worked together and they mentioned that maybe Larry and I could go on a date. I didn't know Larry or what he looked like, but when he called that August afternoon and asked me out, I said yes and the rest is history. We were married after dating for 8 months and had 35 wonderful years together. Oh, by the way, Larry hadn't dated anyone either. Hard to imagine, huh? We were meant for each other and the Lord brought us together...for that I will be eternally grateful!!!

I was introduced by a mutual friend in a bar. Although I may have been looking at the time, I definitely did not want to find someone in a bar. When we were introduced it was like there was a flash in my mind that said "this is the man you will marry". I'd never had that happen and didn't really understand it because I just didn't like the idea of being picked up in a bar. He was persistent and friends encouraged me so we started dating. After a few months, however, he started seeing someone else and I was devastated.

He soon broke up with this other person and we became good friends - best friends. It's always good to marry your best friend - we were married 5 years later and were married for 26 years.

This is a great post and I've loved reading everyone's story. Don and I met in out Junior year of high school. I found him annoying because I had a mad crush on a friend's brother who didn't know I was alive. Well, Don was dared by a mutual friend (male) to ask me out. He figured I would say no so he asked and I accepted. I don't have a clue why I said I would go. I was very impressed with our first date and we became best friends from that date on. After dating we gradually fell in love and when he proposed I was thrilled to say yes. Marrying your best friend is a wonderful start to a good marriage. The love and friendship continued for 40 years of marriage without wavering. I was a very lucky girl that he was dared to ask me out and am thankful I accepted. He was all I ever wanted. Sharon

I was NOT looking. I was in my second marriage...my wife was a fine lady and our marriage was not in trouble. Arlene had been a close friend for eleven years. She was around a lot and knew both of my wives. Arlene became single, we remained friends and we went out for pizza one night when my wife went out with her co-workers. During that dinner, Arlene and I talked a lot and I can't remember exactly how the discussion went, but we left the restaurant knowing there was a lot more to our relationship than we had ever acknowledged. I didn't break my marriage vows...I had some very difficult discussions with my wife and moved in with Arlene about three weeks after our night at the restaurant. We were together for 23 years and I feel robbed...it wasn't enough. I guess that's among the reasons I say I'm fatalistic about life. You can't plan. Things that are meant to happen will happen.

I was looking when I found Tom. He had beautiful green eyes also and when he looked at me for the first time, I was hooked. I will never forget that look. We started dating and on our first date he took me to a little cafe' and we sat and talked until 3 in the morning. It was so neat to be able to communicate with him. He was a fantastic listener.
