This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
But for the most part I always said I was ok, mostly because I didnt really want to talk about it in public or at work. Always trying to hold it together.

The people who ask how you are doing and already know what happened, really don't want to know that you are not okay and many expect you to be "fine" by now because they are clueless. And for those who don't know, I don't care to stand out in a public place and tell them or see the embarrassment of their faces when I do.

I get the impression that people don't want to hear about the hardships of being widowed. They really don't care unless they are getting something out of it. This is why I prefer talking to other widows/widowers.
