I got one tonight too, must be the same one, I didn't like it either, I sent a copy of it the DS team, it justs feels like a violation

One thing I want to point out about the insensitive email. I have gotten more than one requesting that I add them as friends. The first thing I did was click on their "name" and it shows their profile. One was a girl in her 20s and the other a boy the same age. Since DS has lots of different groups there are always people who will try to "get" your information and if you make your profile "private" you can prevent them from seeing "who" you are. The way I pick friends is by checking what sites on DS they use...just a suggestion for those of you who want to eliminate any unwanted requests. I choose to leave mine open so other widow/widowers can see it. At least for now as I am so new. I can change this any time.

I've been on DS for a long time now, long before my husband passed away and have never gotten anything but support from these folks.

I got one, too, Honey. I don't think he realizes what this site is really about...Please don't be put off. I think someone just needs to explain this is a place to feel safe....not a dating service. I know he meant no harm...but you were hurt, and I am so sorry.

I think it helps if you mark your profile private - that way only friends can read your information. Sorry this happened to you; look at it this way, now you know - there are insensitive jerks out there and as young widows (and widowers) we need to be aware that there are people who would prey on us.

This has happened to me also. This sight is linked with all the DS links. The divorced and single link and all the other ones. I just delete them thinking they are from one of these other links. If it persists just let DS know and they will take care of it.

There is good and bad throughout this world and this site is not immune from it,,, I was upset the first time I got one... but I'm glad I'd seen the good side of this site,by that time, well enough to overlook the bad... it hasn't happened but about 4 times to me here, and one was yesterday- they sent over 900 hugs and had just joined yesterday... I think they are idiots or are just "Trolling" for someone to take advantage of.... I mean "nice-love-4u4-ever" Really....what a MORON!!! they have web sites for that kinda Crap... and this is not it... but some people have no self respect let alone respect for others... rest assured though, the good outweighs the bad here... from my experiance here... Hi Lois, You might want to let the DS team know about this. If they deem it inappropriate they could caution the sender that this is not what this sight is all about. So sorry this happened so soon after your loss. the rest of us will be here for you. Hugs, Kathy

From time to time I get the ones from young women in africa or the malaysia looking for a husband. They start with "now that you are single...", sorry I am not single, I am WIDOWED!

I just delete them.

I got it too and deleted it, also get solicitations on my Facebook page
which I ignore also.... people are sick, we have had men show
up at our local widow support group who are obviously not grieving
but looking for a women we kindly ask them not to come back ...

Has never happened to me. So sorry you have experienced this so early in your journey. These people are insensitive. Just ignore them.

I had that happen not too long ago. He liked what he saw in my picture and on and on. I emailed back and told him that this was not a dating site and if he viewed my journals and other info he would have seen that I met Richard on this site and we have since gotten MARRIED.. last May.....!!! I haven't heard from him since.
Even though my husband has passed 3 years and my friend Bobby will be 2 years .......this person's comments really annoyed me that he'd be writing such stuff on this site. I haven't heard from him since..........

I seem to have gotten the same email and it upset me too. I am new here and my love has only been gone 5 months today. I did delete it but am not here for that ....

At four and a half months, i have recieved a half dozen. But i consider the thousands of supportive and positve responses I get , and ignore it. Unfortunatelly in life, there always has to be some bad mixed in with the good, As we all keep having to learn over and over. And just like with my husband i would not trade all my good to miss the bad. Hang with us, it will be worth it. Prayers to you. Sorry for your loss
