Getting back into a groove

One of the last things I talked about with my wife before she got really sick was she wanted me to run a marathon in Green Bay in May. I've done it the past two years as was thinking of skipping it this year. But she told me to I have to so I've been training for it since mid December. Been running on a treadmill but that is really boring. Even though it was around only 40 degrees this morning I decided to run outside. I like to run to Miller park. It's about a 12 mile run for me there and back. But took a different way today. Ended up running 16 miles. It felt great. I miss my wife every second of everyday, but I think I'm starting to move forward and finally starting to get back into a groove in the world again

It's refreshing to feel the positive in our lives.

My husband talked to a man who owns a bicycle shop so I would have someone to contact when problems arose. It is such a relief to have this person to go to & not be worried that I am being "taken". You were running, I was biking on a local trail, did 10 miles. We have had rain therefore the surface was soft but my temps were 20 degrees higher than yours! I just wanted to ride & bike what I could, like we used to do.

Congrats for continuing to train. I'm trying half hearted today was my third runs since I lost my hubby. We had just done the rock-n-roll Las Vegas in nov. he died the following Thursday. I have a half marathon I paid for last summer in February with my Mom and Sister, but it's so hard. My hubby got into running for me, but I know he'd want me to continue. This last run felt a lot better. My vote it to go for it, run your heart out, it's a bless tot be able to do it. Happy running.

16 miles.............you are doing great! When my husband got sick, I was training for a stair climb sponsored by the American Lung Association (you climb 25 flights of stairs). I was doing good and I think I would have made it but the day of climb, my dad had a brain biopsy and of course, it was more important that I be there with him. Dad died two weeks later and within a month my husband was diagnosed with cancer and within four months I was diagnosed with cancer, so yeah, the stair climb was put on hold. I am just now beginning to get my strength back after losing 70 pounds (a lot of it muscle) from the cancer. The other day I walked two miles in 25 minutes. That might not sound like much, but it was an accomplishment for me. I have not given up hope of participating in another stair climb..............perhaps next year I would be ready. It would be especially meaningful for me because it is sponsored by the American Lung Association and my husband died of lung cancer. Keep on training.......................I bet your wife is cheering you on from Heaven!!!

That's Awesome !! Exercise is good for the soul and body and 16 miles..Wow..Very impressed..Seeing we have value again i think helps us to achieve our dignity :) Hugs !!
