I would have never ever moved that last file cabinet drawer out except my granddaughter and I could not move it ourselves otherwise. I almost had my son in law do it...and I know we would have never removed that last drawer. I had no idea my husband was stashing Monies......

My father did the same. He always told my mother that if anything happened to him, go to the lock box. There would be money in there for her.

After Dad passed, the first thing Mom and I did was get the lock box, which when opened was empty. Mom was speechless.

For whatever reason we started to fish through his dresser drawers. Didn't get past the top one, for there were bank sleeves by the abundance, each holding cash.

By the time we finished counting, Mom had a whopping $10,000. Lucky they were never robbed.

Good news, I'm happy you found it.

It must be a guy thing. I used to put money back that my wife didn't know I had, just for emergencies, It's also a good idea here in Florida to have cash in case of hurricanes because they shut down the ATM's

That was a good surprise! I also have had issues with a garage full of stuff and like your line about when you pass and find your husband . My garage was a mess as well as a spare unfinished room in the basement because Hubby had emptied his parents house for selling a few years prior his passing. What a task! My father in law was an organized hoarder . He had everything labelled but could not get rid of anything. We had purged a lot and had a few yard sales and still my garage was filled. Last summer I did a yard sale and my brother came to help sort things and could not believe the amount of stuff. A lot went to charity and a lot of little stuff was sold at the yard sale where I raised over $500 practically giving the stuff away. My father in law was the kind of person who if he found a sale on Bic pens, would buy multiples of them but if one ran out of ink, he could not throw them out . One storage container yield 50+ packs of cards !

I'm so happy for you. It is past due for you to find a blessing from your husband to support you and your needs. I'm sure you will find a good way to use it. I would try to make a small part of it for something for you in memory of his savings. Sharon
