Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
The closest I've come to this was when my dad died. We struggle alone, but together, each in our own way. Sharon
I am so sorry you are going thru this. But I am glad you found this site. It is very helpful and the folks here really do care. Everyone is compassionate and have a good heart.
It sounds like your son is scared more than resentful. It probably looks like resentment, but everything he draws strength from as a young man finding his own way has been taken away. And now he feels the safety of having his father and friends is gone. And he may be feeling like he has to be the man and is not sure how. It's new territory for him.
I think with the help of good family therapy and some time he will find his way again. what he is feeling is different from your grief.
For your grief you have to take care of your healing in this. Your life partner has been taken away. Your life want go back to the way it was. The most important is to not rush yourself and take on too much. Be patient with you.
I know as a parent you hurt and worry about your kids but they are adult age and need to find their own way. All you can do is be supportive when they need it and if they make mistakes as adults there isn't much you can do. But still let them know how much you love and care about them.
Right now at six months you already know the pain and grief that goes along with this. I don't know if your a lady of faith but if you are draw from it. It will get you thru.
Again I'm sorry you or anyone else has to go thru this level of hurt and pain. It is nothing I could have prepared for myself.
Take care.
Peace, Tim
Thank you
