I don't believe in readings. I believe it's just hokus-pokus, a way for some people to make a buck. Just my opinion. I believe in the Bible and prayer.

Don't get me started! No offense, but the way I look at it, psychics and mediums are still alive. What do they know about being dead?? And what would I want to know, anyway? Joe's dead, and as far as I can see, he's going to continue being dead. I look inside myself - I look to G-d, not for unanswerable answers, but for support and guidance. I guess you got from my post that I don't think it's a good idea, huh?

Well I do believe in a good psychic medium. Those who never have had a reading should know what peace a good reading can bring. Make up your own mind but I have seen psychic mediums and had wonderful readings giving me information no one but Jim and I could have known. Of course psychics aren't dead but neither am I. This issue always seems to be pretty 'hot button" whenever it is asked. So I'm gonna throw caution to the wind as it were in jump in, hoping not to be too badly beaten! Just kidding ladies!! I love you both! :-)

I went to a psycic, and also to a medium. the psycic, about 70 % right on, and that's what led me to go to a medium. I have always been an "I need answers " type of person, and really have no formal religious affiliation at this point, although I was raised both in the Catholic faith, and Protestant along with studying many other religions. For some faith based prayers allows for healing, and I RESPECT that with all that I am. for me, though I just had to try it out.

I went to a medium, and what she told me was right on the money so to speak. I had journaled about this experience also, because it was so much, I couldn't belive what I was hearing, and yet, she had told me about things that ONLY he and I would know. I am skeptical of many things including psycics, but this one really helped me.

It sounds like the person you saw was as New roads said...Trying to make a buck. Very general, and just telling you to "get over it" basically. The one I saw did not tell me that, however when I asked about it,
(marriage in heaven, due to another person's post at the time) she said that he knew who I was going to meet down the road, and would let me know when I had met that person. she also knew I was NOT looking!! lol and told me he was waiting for me to do something special that we did together. she was about 95% on the money the whole way through with absolutely no prompting from me whatsoever.

all in all it was a great experience, and I came away feeling good, and much more calm. so it worked for ME.

there are many psycics out there who merely call themselves that. BUT I do believe there are good ones as well.

If you do have religious affiliations though, you i'm sure know that the church does not recognize psycics and have very specific strong beliefs where that is concerned.

So just do what is in your heart, and what you feel is right. And I would not listen to anyone (psycic reader() who just speaks in generalities. they have no idea what they are talking about, or "who' they are talking to! lol

This is my opinion.....If God wants you to hear from him HE will make that possible. God does give certain gifts to certain people but for his purpose, I don't believe that he ever intended for people to use his gifts for their own purposes. A preacher friend of mine told me after my Ed died that I must draw closer and closer to God since that's where my husband is! I know this and feel it in my heart, so I do pray and tell the Lord what I am feeling and always say Let Ed know this for me, or tell Ed I love him.....I know to some it may sound silly that's why I said it's my experience and opinion but I want to know we will be together again and since he is with the lord I will continue to draw closer to him! I contacted one when my mother passed, and it helped me close many questions that were haunting me. However, I do not want to visit one regarding my husband's passing. It would be entirely too painful for me.

not sure what I believe or don't believe these days... I'm pretty desperate - so I'll probably believe more in something today than I did before this grief journey - but, I think the main topics I took away from your post is (a) your willingness to explore unconventional ways to better understand what has happened to you and (b) anger that you have that your husband is gone. As far as unconventional methods- if there's something out there that will help you process - I say go for it - just don't set your expectations so high that you are constantly disappointed. As far as the anger, I get it! How dare he be gone and not be suffering the way those of us remaining are suffering. I think it's amazing how much anger I have experienced since bri passed - I think it's probably just one emotion that I use to get me through the healing process. I am sorry you didn't find comfort when you were looking for it. I hope that you are able to find a way to get past the anger (and if you figure out a neat trick, please share it with me:)

I know my husband would never make me pay money to a stranger to get a message to me. You should check out the work of Darren Brown - he shows you how the psychics make it look like they are in contact with the dead so they can convince you and take your money.

I believe there is a life after this one, and I have had signs from Cliff and from others that have passed (my parents, his parents, etc.). However, I do think that mediums just take advantage of us when we are so hurting and vulnerable. Again, why would our loved ones expect us to have to pay money to a stranger in order to contact us? Why would God make such contacts a paid process? I think they are frauds.

I for one would really like to think psychic & medium's are real.
I haven't found one yet. there are so many frauds and cheats out here it makes it hard to believe anyone one of them. But like others i would like to have some of my questions answered.But I'm not fooled easily I have some check questions and if they can't answer the check questions right I don't bother with them.

Gotta say I 'm on the same wavelength as Marjoe and Lerose...and I know that we are all entitled to our own beliefs and opinions. Let me sum up mine...it clearly states in my Bible that we are not to mess around with psychics and mediums...yes, they do believe in God, also stated in the Bible...I think part of the problem here then becomes an individual may start to rely on the psychic to bring them comfort, instead of turning to the Holy Spirit...and I believe more of them are frauds than not.
I was also reading some posts about dreams and wanting to see or hear our spouses in them...I can honestly say that I have not had an encounter with my husband in a dream, and it dawned on me that the reason may be because I don't really feel like I "lost" him...I know exactly where he is without a shadow of a doubt.
In my faith process, the way I see it, if our loved ones would see our pain and grief, then heaven wouldn't be a place of joy and comfort...and it is clearly stated in the Bible that there will be no more pain or sorrow when we go to be with Jesus.
So, good or bad idea? For ME it's no question...bad idea.

There is a church called the Spiritulist Church where psychics actually give readings in the middle of the service. They are all over the US. This might be what you are thinking of ....

So what is the difference between the two?

Two? Most churches in the US don't believe in psychics and would of course never have readings by one. I am not an expert on religion but I have heard of the Spiritulist church.

my own belief is not to dabble with psychics..my wife worked in a crematorium before she got sick and met all kinds..she exchanged info with a psychic at work that i found out about when cleaning up after my wifes death..the psychic sent her a letter with a contact number and 2 things my wife should do (both terribly wrong ,but besides my point)..even though my wife never followed up on it i visited the address of the psychic ..(why i went there i dont know,to see who this person was?)..when i approached the house ,i actually felt freaked out,unnerved,cold..a normal looking house (that your instincts just knew ) was not a normal residence..i knocked once,thank goodness no one answered and i turned and got out of there..i know this is a reading question,just wanted to share my experiance for what its worth..
