Liz, you're not alone. And I was never a public cry-baby before Cliff died either. Afterwards, the least thing had the ability to just set me off. And on the days when I was hormonal (!), oh boy -- twice as bad! God bless the guy that invented waterproof mascara, kleenex, and concealer - they became part of my survival gear. You're not crazy nor are you alone.

Hang in there, sweetie, you will get through this.

No you are not even a little crazy. I am the same way. Everything triggers the tears. The nicer someone is to me the worse the tears are. The holidays do make is worse I think. Too much stimulation of happy couples, shopping, music, decorations everywhere. My street has tons of Christmas lights so I close the blinds and don't go out after dark so I can avoid them. You will get through this, but it's tough. Hang in there.

Liz you're not alone or insane. I cried so much on Thursday at work and at home I finally wore myself out. Friday morning my eyes were swollen and matted. I think I pulled out half of my lashes just trying to open my eyes. I don't know--maybe it is the holidays.

Liz - I have been out Christmas shopping, I decorated the house (no big tree this year, but mantle, etc. - it's my first Christmas without my husband), I'm even ok seeing the Christmas lights (I didn't put ours/mine up this year). But you should have seen me this past Friday! It was our holiday luncheon at school and I looked forward to it all morning. I walked into the room, happy to see some of my favorite teachers, on came The Christmas Song, I teared up, turned and left. Pulled myself together (add Visine to Martha's list of reasons to bless the guy/gal who invented), walked back in, teared up and walked back out. By my third try it was a different group of teachers, looked at one of my favorites, teared up and left. Couldn't find a place to hide this time (rooms being used) and fortunately a staff member rescued me. I finally had lunch a couple of hours later with a couple of my co-workers and everything was fine. Go figure! I have never been a crier and actually wished I could cry - bad headaches when held in. Since my husband died I cry so easily and tear up without control. You are not alone and you are not crazy - you are grieving. I send you and all on DS warm wishes this season. Karen

It's the holidays. Normally it's such a happy time, but this year it's anything but happy.

2014 has been the worst year of my life, I just want it to be over.

It was 2 years this past September that my wife passed but I have to tell you that I think I'm feeling it more this year. I have been very weepy myself. Whether it's a song, a TV show, etc, things seem to be setting me off more than the past two years. I don't know why. I hate feeling this way. So much so I am taking the last two weeks of the year off work. I don't think I can handle it at work.

You are not alone, Liz. I am much more emotional this holiday season. This will be the second Christmas without my husband and I miss him more than ever. It doesn't help either that the weather here has been cloudy and gloomy since Thanksgiving. Would love to see some sunshine!

I think it's normal. I cry very easily these days and sometimes I don't even see what triggers it coming. But....I no longer have to deal dry eyes.

I too started crying out of the blue this actually started for me last December... I never knew when it would happen...it has supsided but has been replaced by something even more intense but doesn't happen as often and usually is triggered when I'm changing something that was an important..part of my married life or marriage. I have been trying to focus on the positive..and I use prayers and music to get me through ..ahh one thing at a time

You're not alone or insane! I had about a week there that people couldn't even look at me without me bursting into tears. And your right - you never know what's gonna hit you. Funny thing is the things you think will upset sometimes don't and the simplest things do. Hang in there and remember you are not alone or insane!
