My friend got a beautiful one at Tiffanys, and had her mother's ashes put in. She says it's very comforting wearing it, she feels like she had her mom close to her.
Hugs,
Janie
At the time of my wifes passing, I considered keeping some of her ashes. Her sister also asked if she could keep some for a locket. At the time, I decided I didnt want pieces of her in many different places. Her sister understood and was ok with that. But. Here is what happened. Every time I would visit the spot in the mountains where her ashes were spread, I would pick up a fragment and bring it home with me. When her sister and brother came out to visit, they also picked up a few tiny fragments. It is hard to sort out your emotions when trying to make such decisions. Maybe someday I will return her fragments, maybe not. Till then they sit on my dresser in a tiny box. Morbid no, cherished yes.

When my wifes mother passed, I bought her a necklace with an angel pendant and her moms bith-stone - I told her that by wearing it should could have her mom close to her heart, she never removed it. When my wife passed I gave it to my sister-in-law so that she could have both her mother and sister next to her heart.
My wife is resting next to her mother in a double earn on our china cabinet, it is what she wanted, so it is what I have done. - the one thing I have learned is that no two of us are the same.

I, too, could NEVER scatter his ashes, although it did cross my mind, for only a second to do it at sea. But, I couldn't.
He rests in a beautiful mahogany & brass box on a table in our bedroom. Next to him is his beloved Black Lab, Brenda.
I'm so glad he's with me. I talk to him all the time, it gives me comfort.
The children come over, go to the bedroom, close the door and have their time alone with their Dad. They didn't like cremation but now they've changed their thinking and really like being able to be close to their Dad whenever they want.

People who have not been through what we have may think what we do is morbid but that is their problem.
I had a memorial tattoo (using part of my husband's ashes mixed with the ink) of his initials and a little heart on the inside of my wrist and I LOVE it (I look at every day and I feel I have a little bit of him as part of me) - some people think I'm weird (particularly as I don't like tattoos) but this tattoo feels SO RIGHT (for me).
a pendant to keep some of the ashes so I can feel him close to me.
It is so wonderful to be able to come to this site where everyone understands and is so supportive.Hugs to all. Julie
