So in 3 weeks time will mark 1 year since my wife died. The pain hasnt lessened and I still feel like I am alone. I find everyone is all words, they say they will be there for you. If this year has taught me anything is that there is no one there for you in the end. My life hasnt got any better if anything I've become a worse guy cause of it. My life used to be so clean cut. I had a job I had my wife I had my life. Now I live in a small apartment alone unhappy, forgotten. This year was so bad I didnt even notice my birthday passed by, it wasnt till I got to work a week later and realised I had infact lied about my age in a survey I had done the week before I noticed. Im 36 years old and I feel like this should be the end of my life. The Drs didnt really help they just said basically what everyone else seems to say "It will get better" yet it never does. I dont wanna feel this pain anymore. Why did it have to end like this? I feel like no one even knows who I am anymore. I used to be happy and joke all the time. I've become the opposite of who I was and I dont feel like I can ever escape it.
I dont know what to do anymore. I dunno why im typing this now, I guess I feel so lonely. It crushes me down everyday. I wish I knew what to do.
I miss her everyday, and hate who I've become because of it.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...
So at this point (almost 8mos for me), I've realized the formula to alleviate the pain is within us, rather than around us. No outside factor can influence your progress of getting used to it. Noticed I did not mention "Healing" because there is no cure! The feeling is malignant and can only be stabilized over the years. My God, how I wish we all did not have to be in this forum.....but it is what it is.....sigh! Try to stay strong and may God continue to carry us all thru this.......
You also need to understand that others are not able to understand what you are going through. Nobody does that has not lost their spouse to death. I know that before it happened to me, I didn’t. Others move on with their lives because their lives weren’t changed forever. They aren’t being cruel or heartless.....they just don’t understand! Forgive them.
I pray that you can find some sort of peace in your mind and heart. God bless you.....Linda
Some of us here do.
This is the most disorienting thing I have ever been through, and I've been through some serious shit.
TRY not to let anger turn inward against yourself. I mean, just try not to give that a permanent parking spot inside.
OK, wait: um, it might rack up some frequent flyer miles, but when it lands don't give it a full hookup.
You are right, actually, no one knows who you are anymore. Not even You do. This changes us.
but we are not finished yet., not right wherever we are at.
You are up against one of the hardest milestones.
Cut yourself a little slack. please. There is absolutely no place for the word "should" to camp.
It's bad enough when everyone around us expects that we "should" be better by ________.
If we believe that about ourselves, it is the unkindest cut of all.
Be gracious to yourself.
