I can't make myself go back to church. It's not that I've lost my faith, it's just that we would always go together. To make it even harder, his funeral was held there. Tomorrow is the annual children's Christmas program, so I thought that might make it easier, but I just don't know if I can do it. My sister said she would go with me, but I'm still not sure. Every time I think about walking through those doors I start sobbing. It's only been about 2-1/2 months, so do you think it is just too soon? I really miss going to church and I don't want to go to a different one. Any thoughts?

I had the same struggle Ruth9999 when my husband died 8 months ago. Thankfully my kids went with me at first but when I had to go alone I would cry and sometimes turn around and go back home cause it was too hard. I pass by the place we met (38 years ago) and the church we were married in on my way to the church we both attended before he got too sick to go anymore. I'm doing a little better with it now so allow yourself time to handle it the way you need to week by week. I do a lot of praying and God is slowly and gently getting me through this. You are in my prayers.

Ruth, I read your post then searched for your decision as to whether or not you decided to go to church. Its great that you went and found it not so bad. I'm glad you have your sister.
I went back to church when my husband passed away because I didn't know where to turn with my broken heart. It wasn't something we did each week. He did like to go on holidays. I found love and support and new friends who are still with me nine years later. I rarely miss a week and am comforted every Sunday after attending. My week just goes better.
It's alright to cry in church or anywhere. It just happens. I admire your bravery. Wishing you strength and peace as you heal. Hugs, Dolores
