Attack of the Stink Bugs

Trent and I live in the upstairs of a garage and as I sit here I've noticed the return of the dreaded stink bugs. Trent was my savior when it came to them. The first time we moved up here we didn't know what to do so Trent got the vacuum and used the hose on them. He was so funny and had me laughing with him being stupid. This last time we moved up here we did a little more research when the stink bugs ascended. Whenever he saw one he would collect them in a bottle he cut the top off and flipped it so that the stink bugs couldn't escape. I remember one time I was sitting in bed doing homework and he saw one on the wall beside me and he jumped on the bed and ran across it to get to it and another one left the bedroom and went into the big part so he jumped again on the bed to chase after it. He could always make me laugh.

awwww.. the funny times.. and reminders.. I noticed when I would remember something funny about sean, it's just been recently that I've begun to create funny/happy memories. I'm glad you remember that funny time with your sweet Trent. hugs carla

I have been invaded again this year too! Does anyone know how to get rid of them without calling a professional?? I hate bugs!!! Thanks

Okay, I'm in the dark here. What the heck is a stink bug? We had June bugs and cockroaches and lightning bugs in the midwest when I grew up back there. Here in WA we've got lots of wasps and other stinging insects, misquetos, flys, ants, potato bugs, oh I guess we got all kinds of bugs and spiders, but no stink bugs - I guess I've been deprived! Guessing its an east coast thing. I do know those aerosol bug bombs work well for other insects (but only if you want to subject the inside of your home to really nasty chemicals - so go away for a few days to give it time to air out). I do love your fun story Cajones - our laughing memories are so very precious. God bless you ~ Scott

Look up Brown Marmorated Stink Bug on Wikipedia. They are extremely clever at squeezing into homes in the Eastern US when the weather turns colder, and they cluster behind curtains and make a hissing noise when they fly. Ugh!! Alice

I haven't seen any this year, but I have in prior years.

Stink bugs don't bite, they're just very annoying.
If you squish them they really stink!

Grab a small piece of toilet paper, gently pick up the bug, and flush it down the toilet.

I live in L.A. We have all sorts of varieties of bugs and because I also live with my wonderful Black Lab, Horton, I would NEVER use anything that would risk his health to kill a bug.

We are having a terrible invasion of ants this year because our weather has been extremely hot, we use baby powder. I sprinkle it wherever they are and like magic they disappear. The powder works miracles and doesn't hurt animals or humans.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
