loveddogs
Several months before my husband passed he said maybe in August we could get a new puppy. A miniature Dachshund. We both loved our little Winnie that had passed a few months before. At the time we had no idea that he would not be here by August. (he passed in April) But I felt the need to fill our wish. I have searched high and low, but finally connected and yesterday bought a 9 week old chocolate female. My son (that lives with me) bought her brother a black and tan. I still have a 5 1/2 year old lab/setter mix, and a 14 yr. old Chihuahua. These two little helions are such a hoot. I find myself truly laughing out loud. The other dogs have their noses all bent out of shape though. ha ha. As my avitar states, my husband loved dogs as I do. These lttle stinkers love to cuddle, give kisses and BITE with those little baby teeth. But they are finding a place in my empty heart. I also joined a training class with the lab/setter mix. I missed one class because of a five day crying spell, but I think we can catch up. It's going to take disapline on my part as the dog is extremely intelligent, but if I don't work her it reflects on me. ha ha. So now, I will be forced to get up, keep stuff off the floor and get some excercise. I will post some pics of the new babies. (probably a lot of pics). I do think my husband is smiling in Heaven, I hope so anyway. Hugs and Love to all, Michele

while i was there, one of the danes decided I was hers...She knew i was sad and spent almost everyday walking up too me and putting her head in my lap..
my mom keeps threatening to drop her off at my house, especially since i will now be 1800 miles closer to them... Pets are such good therapy for us and I think dogs especially.. she was just the most loving dog I have seen in a long long time..really made me feel better when i was there
After Brenda retired I received Horton an American Lab/Golden Retriever mix. He's a big, handsome wonderfully brilliant boy.
Brenda passed away 10 months after Morey died. She adored him and although she was 14 years old, I do believe her heart was too broken to continue living without him.
Her cremains lay in an urn near his urn on a table in our bedroom.
Horton goes to work with me, travels with me and NEVER leaves my side 24/7. Far different than just a "pet" Horton and I are true working partners.
I totally understand and empathize with people who talk about their feelings for their beloved pets.

They gave me a reason to be here tomorrow. Their loving touch and cuddles nudged me out of the pit.
They sat with me, and became extra nurturing after he passed. we all had desperate needs from his absence.
Times like that, they're not dogs, they are Fur Angels. They were the only way I could feel that God was comforting me.
Love to you

PS. Two words... Puppy breath! Awwwwwww :)
I have been thinking for the past few days about getting a little puppy. I live in an apartment and don't have a big yard for it to play in, but I see a lot of people at my apartment building walking their dogs. I guess I could do that too. What kind of small dog do you think would be for the puppy to be happy in an apartment?
By the way, my husband, John, was a well-known breeder of Alaskan Malamute dogs in California, which is how I met him, when I bought a wild Malamute puppy from him at his kennel.
Hugs to you all.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
