Hello,
My name is Denis. I have been reading the discussions all afternoon thinking to myself That's how I feel. That's what I do and on and on. It's great to talk to people about my (our) situation but as you all know, there is nothing like talking to others that have been there. I wish I would have found this site a year ago.
I lost my wife of 30 years to breast cancer in May of 2011. I was her sole caregiver during those final years. I feel I'm doing pretty good. I do have my moments but the grief no longer grips me for days on end like it did last year this time. The one year anniversary was tough but the actual day was not bad at all. The month building up to it was the most difficult for me. Of course I miss my wife dearly. Especially when I see my grandson. I feel bad that she is not here to see him grow. I remember when she was first diagnosed she broke down and said I'm not gonna get to see my grandchildren. She did get to see him but he was just a couple of months old when she died.
Well, I figured I would introduce myself. You all seem so kind and supportive.

I'm Jeff and I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss, but glad you found your way to this site. I've been a member for just over two years. I've made some friends and found some support when I needed it. I hope we can help you. Take care and I hope to see more of your postings.
I am soo sorry for the loss of your sweet wife. I am so glad you found this board and the people on it. i lost my husband in febraury of 2011 and found this board early on after. it was the singel best thing I did for myself at that time. I didn't know WHAT i was doing or feeling from day to day minute to minute most days.
There are many lifelines here, and true compassion, empathy, and UNDERSTANDING for everything you are and will be feeling. one thing you can know for sure, as there is not much you DO know now if you are like me.....you are no longer alone in this..You have many freinds who CARE.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious wife. Diane is right when she said finding this site was the best thing we did for ourselves.
It's been my lifeline for 7 months and just knowing I'm not alone has saved my sanity. I hope you find comfort and peace as well.

I'm glad you found your way to DS. I googled support groups about 15 months after my husband died and came here. This has been a supportive, kind, and understanding group of people here.
I hope you feel welcome here.
