Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

This site confirms that we are all the same in birth, in grief, tragedy and in death. These are the only times we are one and the same, depending on each other as human beings. When race and background suddenly is irrelevant.
Here we get to vent about our lowest and darkest point in our lives, tell our story openly to anyone online that would read it and relate with a reply. All while staying anonymous at the same time....How great is that!!
Anyway, I hope you remain and partake actively in this forum like you do. So much to learn from each others plight. Good luck, God Bless and keep on...
You should also know that we have a ton of members who read but don't post. Sometimes called "lurkers" because they never say anything. Many will lurk until they understand how the site works a little and then something will strike a chord and they come out of the shadows.
We also have a large group that have healed significantly and only come through sporadically now. The holidays will be upon us soon, and we always get a lot of activity here during those times because they are hard to face alone, and here you don't have to face them alone.
I joined here late November 2007, a couple of weeks after losing my husband of 30 years on Veterans Day 2007. I have just passed the 10-year milestone. It is surreal to be able to even write that. I fall into the camp of those that found love again: I married a widower I met in this group, we have been together for 7 years. It's surreal to write that, too. Most of my friends from the early days have moved on. I miss them, but if they are happy then I'm glad. I am still here to try and help those who are new to this. That's why I have the "CL" badge on my picture, I am an old-timer and Community Leader who stuck around to help out if I can. Nobody should have to go it alone.
How you handle your grief and the loss changes over time. Some of it is always at the back of your mind, that's because people die but love doesn't. But life becomes livable again, even hopeful and worth living again. It's not an overnight process. But you CAN get through this. Don't give up.
And don't worry about that stupid counter - there is usually somebody around!
Love and Hugs,
Martha
I was married to my high school sweetheart who died 10 years ago. I built a life and it didn't replace my Don, but I Learned to smile again. They want our happiness. They always have. I am here for sac of you as others have been here for me. Hugs Sharon
Terry
P.S. I agree with Martha. When DS changed the format of this site, they lost many posters. This new layout is really the pits.
Don't worry about that, it only takes 2 or 3 caring ears. Look at all the responses you've received.
Wishing you well, wishing you peace of heart
