My H warned me. We were set to go on a mountain climbing trip and I was nervous, as I am afraid of heights. He joked that he would "just give me a shove down the mountain and say, 'You got this'". We laughed. Then he did just that. I am now in traction for a shattered leg, and he left me at the hospital saying he "has nothing to be sorry for because he did nothing wrong". Now he's running around telling everyone that he is the victim here bcz I (supposedly) won't talk to him and that I am wrongfully blaming him for what he is calling "an accident", but the opposite is true...he is the one who won't talk to me, other than to scoff at me, saying, "You're going to get addicted to pain meds" while in the hospital the day after I had my second surgery. I have never been addicted to anything, but he has. As soon as I am healed he will be back. And I will serve him with divorce papers.

OMG, onthemend10! I am so sorry that this happened to you but so glad for you that you are alive. My first P that I was with and engaged to used to tell me that he would take my life insurance and bury me in the backyard. We laughed too. I got out but after his mask fell it gave me chills thinking of him saying and laughing about that. Can you stay safe? Your story is so chilling.

I am safe bcz he is gone for now...S's hate being around sick ppl, I also have a burly long time male friend taking care of me as well as my daughter, plus he knows a lot of ppl are watching him now, even his co-workers.

Funny part: He tried to get his ex gf to take him back right after the "accident" but apparently she refused bcz he is now love bombing a new woman who lives 3 hours away.

I also dated one S who warned me while we were watching a movie, cuddling on the couch. He said, "You are so f*d, bcz I am your mirror." That was chilling.

Things never got sexual in any way bcz he refused, warning me, "I would hurt you, then destroy you, and I don't want to do that bcz I like you and want you in my life forever."

I left that mess in a hurry and never looked back.

I'm glad you're ok onthemend, I had chills reading your story. Really worrying where he was going with you, stay safe and record everything as you will need it during your divorce and also custody hearings.

My friends all though I was nuts when I was freaked out about my exes 'jokes' about hurting our daughter only a little baby. What's that saying about a true word is said in jest? I honestly think it's a psychopathic version of them revealing their subconscious motivations.

"Mine" (hah!) told me that the US Army had granted her a discharge because she was sociopathic. She also said on several occasions that if I ever left or cheated on her she would hunt me down and kill me. When she asked me to make her the beneficiary of a million-dollar insurance policy on my life I said "no" while thinking "you have got to be kidding!".

Have you seen "48 Hours" from this past Saturday, April 18, 2015? If you can see it online, make sure you do so Johnnycake, and anyone else. It's a story that relates to anyone having a relationship with a sociopath. My concern is that the network dropped the ball, leaving the American public with many questions about the victim as opposed to the "monster." There was no discussion of him being a monster. There should have been some follow up to explain the sociopathic character and his affect on the victim that would make her respond to him with extremely odd behaviors by normal standards.

Coincidentally I caught 48 Hours last week for the 1st time in two decades. It was the episode "To Catch a Genius" about the guy who finally got convicted of killing his wife by injection of nicotine, 16 years after the murder. He did it mostly for the insurance money, it seems.

He was a classic, who got a series of great jobs with faked credentials. Mine, on the other hand, was too narcissistic to allow herself to tell any lie in which she might get caught.

I've been in touch with a group supporting DV awareness in the name of Reeva Steenkamp, the girl friend of Oscar Pistorius. I got their take on cart blanc providing victims of DV with guns, when considering victims of Narcs. It's a charged issue, but I don't think the politicians know enough about the Narc to make this a cart blanc law for victims of DV.

Within the first few conversations of getting to know each other, he said "I'm broken." then followed the comment with that sadistic evil smile. I didn't understand why someone would say something like that... 'then fix yourself' was the thought that popped into my head. If I had only knew what that really meant, I would have ran after that conversation.

He knows I'm a violent person (hey, he met me as a world champion athlete in a strength sport and as an ex-fighter myself) and I would be fascinated. For me, he was a hero. He said nobody can feel proud of killing others. My response was "nonsense: get over it, you killed monsters. You did your job for this country and humanity. I envy you".

The only person to whom he admitted harming me - and only infra-structurally, meaning by not providing me with a stable home and financially taking advantage of my family - was the detective in charge of his case. And... I think he did that because I wrote such a good report that the attorney general will take him to trial. He's negotiating settlement.
