Unemployment Support Group
Recently unemployed or frustrated with the job search? Unemployment can affect more than just the bank account - it has a negative effect on motivation and self-esteem, even sense of identity. This community addresses the challenges associated with unemployment and how to cope.

Go back and read your other two posts and ask yourself if you would have responded if someone else had written that.
Plus, you have to be careful, especially when you're long term unemployed, as to what you expose yourself to. Sometimes talking with other people who are also unemployed results in feeling more discouraged about our own. (On the flip side though...sometimes we get support to deal with what we're going through). But, it can be a toss up.
This morning, I saw a post on the home page of DS that someone on my friends list had posted. To answer her post, I ended up on a forum I don't frequent. (I won't say which one it was). When I got to that group and looked at some of the other posts, I thought, "...the way I'm feeling would be intensified by 1000% (in a negative way) after reading these posts...". Other than offering addition support and encouragement to that person, I have no plans to visit that board again.
I think we're all just trying to survive what we're going through - financially, emotionally and in other ways. Especially when there's always the risk of someone taking a comment meant to HELP you as something other than that (as happened to me yesterday), sometimes it's best to just stay away. Life gives us enough attacks. I don't need cyber-attacks too.
Hope that helps to explain the lack of activity on the board, mycroftt - other than the fact that, for most of the day, most of us are just busy trying to find a job.
