I was just turn down. I've had TN for about 9 mo. now the doctor told me not to be driving now. when the pain cames which is every day I had to guit work. no insureance. I don't know what to do. I well try again

Thank you ~ Jipa ~ I just contacted The Disability Group, Inc and they are helping me with filing for Social Security Disability. I was told that it would take up to a year to get approved so I was wondering if anyone has gone through the process. I have had TN for 8mo but was not diagnosed properly until March 1st. I am currently taking 600mg of Carbamezapine right now but after 11 days of being pain free I had an attack last night. Urgh ~ not what I was expecting but it happened. I have another appt on Tuesday to follow up so we will see what happens. What I did was Googled Trigeminal Neuralgia and Social Security Disability and I clicked to see if I was eligible and a representative from the Disability Group called me so we are taking if from there. I hope this helps you in some way =)

I got mine in August. I Was diagnosed in nov 07 but i was haveing pain for almost a yr. I also have history on migrains and fibro. It took 9 mos to get benifits. Thy sent questionaires and made me see a dr but I got it. My son has serious issue and was on SSI when he was younger and he was turned down. We have a lawyer and he is getting us a date for a hearing. It is best to get a lawyer to help. I was told to put in my application and call a lawyer when i got turned down. I got lucky but my son didnt. I hope you get the help you need. Sometime you have to fight with them to get benifits.

i also had an attorney and he gave such good advice being through the process with a lot of other people. it took closer to two yrs for mine but our courts here were backed up. so that is another question you might ask. my tn is also atypical and my attorney and i had to explain to the court how you don't know what is going to be your good days so how can you commit to an employer than not show up whenever the horrible pain hit. hope this helps. blessings for pain free days and good out come of ssi.

Yes, using an attorney can make the process go a lot more smoothly and end with approval!
It does take time when you are denied, so be patient.

I sent in paperwork for the second time. Now they want me to see there doctors. As I read the paper work it is for a mental evaluation. Bring it on. You know how this is on our mental state. I go in on May 23. I'll See after that. If nothing I'll get a lawyer.

I got mine real quick but my doctors were cool and had really wrote up my TN real well.So thats a big part of getting approved.Even I would suggest a attorney-as they can make sure all the records are there.Good luck and pray you have a pain free day.

Not the same over here. In England you're considered disabled if your symptoms continue without a break for over 12 months, or they are likely to. I have a meeting with the disability advice people next month.
