Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.

I seem to have increasing difficulty remembering things and wonder if that could be a side effect from the drug or just my daily stresses in caring for a spouse with Alzheimer disease.
Anyone else on this drug experiencing memory issues?

I have memory problems with this. I was put on Neurotin 100 mg recently. But the memory thing started months ago. I forget what I was going to say or get my words mixed up and it comes out sounding stupid. I get dizzy often and headaches. I thought i was getting Alzheimer's. Not sure if its the trimgeminal neuralgia or the medicine i take for it

Memory has become a real issue for me. I am making mistakes at work that I haven't made since I started the job. I had the same problem when I started carbamazapine but it cleared up after a month or so. When the neurontin was added the problems started over again and still causes me a problem. Remembering the right word is difficult but fortunately I eventually remember. The stress of caring for your husband probably doesn't help, I do notice when I'm stressed its even more difficult to focus and think straight. Take care and stay strong!

OKAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Thanks you have saved me the trouble of writing about exactly the same thing and asking for feedback. Yep! Memory ain't what it used to be!! And it is NOT cos I am over 60!

Memory loss was one of the many side effects I suffered from Carbamazepine. I had read about the benefits and reduced side effects of Lamictal, but that it was contraindicated w/ Caramazepine.
My doc found a prescription package of Lamictal specifically for someone taking Carbamazepine(or some other drugs). It's called the "green box" and instructs you how to slowly increase Lamictal. When you feel brave enough, you can start reducing the Carbamazepine.
I have done so by almost half in 40 days.

I just increased my Neurontin up to 900 milligrams today and I am really feeling the effects. I forgot a doctors appointment for my daughter yesterday and got charged for the cancelation (need a calendar in every room!). I am barely keeping myself together as a human to remember anything.

I am wondering who is really getting any relief from any of these medications? I just went off of Cymbalta, Notriptyline and Trileptal in the past two months because they weren't working for my pain and so now I am trying Neurontin. I have shocks on both sides of my face and constant pain on the right and have had TN for 18 years. I hope neurontin works but I am just wondering who has found a drug that works?
