sore spots

I was wondering, does anybody else frequently get sore/sensitive spots on their scalp, but nothing is there? These spots basically tell me where to pull from and I will always get a hair with a big root from these spots (which for some reason is my goal). Does anyone have any explanations for this??

I'm not a scalp puller. I do the lash/brow thing. But remember Trich is tricky and wants to MAKE you pull.

I pull eyebrows and I get this. There are like red spots where I NEED to pull from sometimes. Like the skin wants it out or something

Yes I get this sometimes. On my head..I look in the mirror at the sots and see nothing, but it is super sensitive and a little painful to the touch, but always makes me want to pull from it. strange..

Doctors will tell you that this is all in your mind. But many people have noticed these spots and these roots. It looks and feels like an infection. Frequently, pulling is like popping a zit or digging out a splinter. Your skin needs help getting rid of something that is making it hurt.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I know this is not in my head, when I touch the spot it is sore! When I pull from that spot I get a thick root and if I pull from another spot I don't. I find this all so confusing...

I tend to get sore spots from where I pull, and I continue to pull from those areas. It's like if its sore, it's proof that the spot has the best hairs to pull. Kind of like going to a spot in an orchard because you know it has the best fruit!

I have no explanation for it, but I do the exact same thing. I pull from the sensitive spots, and I'm always looking for a big root. So glad I'm not alone!

YES!!! I DO!!! Just the other day i got um so bad i had to go to bed i tried to explain it to my boyfriend and he didnt get it... Im glad to hear its not all in my head!!!

I get those too and I have heard from others that they experience the same thing as well. What I like to do is put an ice pack on the spot to keep me from pulling. I also use this stuff called Melaleuca oil which helps but you can try aloe vera or some other kind of anteseptic. Thanks for this post!

I also get these "sore spots" on my scalp,mostly around the crown, where I like to pull from.I don't know what the appeal is really, it just feels very gratifying to pull from the sore spots as opposed to anywhere else. The sensitive spots always seem to have coarser,thicker hairs with big roots on them.

Maybe try Ambasol (sp) like you use for a sore tooth. It numbs. Then you won't feel the sore spot? I wouldn't suggest it for around eye lids tho.

I get something like that too. I can actually see almost a perfect circle where I pull right behind my ears. It doesn't get red until I scratch at it alot when I'm trying to prevent my pulling.

Does anyone think that we get these sore spots because the hairs with the big roots are growing there? Do you think threre is a physical aspect here? I just find it pretty interesting that I get a physical sensation on my scalp telling me where to pull from and everytime I pull from this spot I get a hair with a big root.

Brie I get the same thing! When I pull from a sore spot on my eyebrows I get like a perfect circle the size of a pencil eraser

I get these too. I also get spots on my eyebrows that seem to itch or tingle and I just have to pull there. I put on this aloe vera with lidocaine (it is for sunburns) and it numbs the spot a bit. Works pretty good actually.
