Hi All
I'm new on here so I thought I would say hi and tell a little bit about my life with trich.
My name is Rachel, I'm 30 years old and I've had trich for 18 years. It started with my eyebrows, then migrated to my eyelashes. When I was in my early to mid-teens, I saw a psychiatrist, psychologist and behavioral therapist. I was put on Prozac, Buspar, Anafranil and Luvox. I was being treated as if it was an anxiety disorder. Needless to say, none of them really worked. My dad always used to say that medications weren't the answer, and for me he was basically right. I've had my ups and downs (mostly downs), but I've always done better on my own. I hit a bottom in my mid-teens when I became suicidal. Kids are harsh and don't care about the feelings of others. I felt like such a freak, but I made it through. When I was in my late-teens early twenties I had my eyebrows tattooed on 4 different times. They kept fading so I gave that up as a bad job (it wasn't every comfortable to have done anyway). I've been drawing them on ever since and am pretty good. I'm quite used to covering up with makeup. I'm glad of being a little older because people accept me for who I am which is great. I have had periods where I don't pull for months and I get a really good amount of growth back where I feel almost normal, but then out of nowhere I relapse and everything's gone. Those are my lowest points.
I've just recently had one of these really bad relapses so it really brought me down. It was this that made me start finally looking for support groups and brought me here. I am really looking forward to talking to others with this OCD and sharing stories and experiences. I am ready to start taking more control!
Hugs to all and I look forward to meeting everyone!!!

It was a huge hit with about 200 guests. We got so many compliments on our hard work and the great time they were having. There are so many nice pictures on Facebook with everyone saying they reconnected with old friends. But let me tell you, I am glad it is behind us. We all put a lot into it. We are having a lunch meeting next week, which I am looking forward to. Yesterday was...

You'll find great trichsters here (that's what we call ourselves), full of support and encouragement. The boards are totally anonymous and no one will ever judge you. There are people from all over the world.
Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch right now.
I started pulling at age 9 and I'm 38 now. I've been pull free since April, and I think it's because of the comfort I've found here. Getting all the pain off my chest has been miraculous. I wish you all the best.
