I feel like I am decent at time management. I make sure to have all my stuff put down in a planner, but do forgot to check it sometimes. I do feel like I procrastinate a lot when it comes to studying for my test. I do it to myself. I tell myself everytime I am going to start studying earlier, but here I am again procrasinating. I hate myself everytime I do this. I wait till the last day and then ending up feeling overwhelmed with all the stuff I have to do.

Sometimes saying I hate myself is simply an expression. But it’s negative talk that is good to delete from thoughts and speech. “I love myself and do not completely understand what causes me to procrastinate”. That is a statement that I can healthily identify with. Is that a statement that you could identify with?

That is a good point! I really don't know why I procrastinate. It could be due to having so many classes and I make certain classes my priority. Then my other classes take a tole because of it and end up waiting till the last minute.

I know that one of the reasons why I procrastinate is because my schedule is too full. I may “use up” my academic energy during work hours and then don’t have the motivation or energy to do personal finances and related things until absolutely necessary, using the adrenaline rush of deadlines to give me that extra burst of energy that I wouldn’t ordinarily have.

I completely agree with what "ontime" was saying. Negative self talk will never motivate you to change. Change comes from within and it starts with what you say to yourself. One of the things that you could do is a type of behavior modification called positive reinforcement. Essentially by adding in a reward for small steps in the procedure like "i worked for 20 minutes on the paper, now i will have a reward" can help reinforce those behaviors making them more likely to occur in this future. However you can not perform positive reinforcement on yourself completely so it is most effective if other people can withhold the reward like praise or goods for example. This is a somewhat complicated topic but it is something that could be tried.
