Happy Saturday one and all. It's -1C here and snowing since early yesterday. It's starting to build up now, the world is all white and I've been hearing the plows going. Storm warning for Monday with a call for 25-35 cm of snow. Still not very cold though since it's going to rain after the snow. That'll be such a mess!
Yesterday our new Jamaican friend, the young man, came over and brought a feast of Jamaican food for us all to share for supper. It was really good and so nice to have a break from cooking. He left us all the leftovers which will probably keep us going for another couple of days. He is a very pleasant and polite fellow and has excellent English. We've no shortage of conversation when he is here. He may be over today to do some studying unless he lucks out and all his roommates are working.
Toni - Be careful with that low BP. We don't want you to fall and break yourself again. I'm sure people using the pantry will be happy with whatever you can give. With that said however, it is nice sometimes to get something different than the normal.
Carly - no I'm not new but I've been away for quite awhile and shortly before I disappeared I changed my name. I used to be SadsadLisa. You're right I'm not from the USA but I am in North America - PEI, Canada to be more precise. We use metric here but many of us who learned standard/Imperial first still use it for things like weight and distance (miles and pounds). Tough habit to break.
Joanne, thanks for the tips about the plants. I do have a nice double window right over the couch where I spend most of my time in the kitchen. Some plants around me would be very nice.
Serenity - did they get that leak fixed so the whole ceiling doesn't fall in? How did your outing go yesterday - was it mom's or the lilbrary?
Take care my friends. My son is here today, in the garage working on his motorcycle, so I'm going to bake some muffins (finally) so I'll have something to offer him when he comes in for a break and to warm up. Hope someone else shows up in here today. It's after 1pm for me so I thought it was time to get the daily check-in up there.
Hugs,
Lisa

89FToday it is again another hot day but cooler then yesterday. Since this is August it is to be expected in my neck of the woods. All the grass is yellow and flowers are starting to go to seed. I need to water my garden but this time of the year I'm so over it, which is weird because all my plants have their fruit or veggies.Sandra, this time of year reminds me of your Dad and his toms. We'd...

I met some nice people from Africa when I studies in the Christian seminary in California. I was 25 at the time. There was a guy, a pastor from Nigeria, who was one of the most friendly humans in the world. He had a lot of children. The youngest one was about one year old who I babysit for a short period of time. This little one smiled so happily whenever she saw my face. I don't know why but it was nice.
I wrote an apology in my previous post under "My photo." Thanks Joanne and Sandra for helping me have courage to come back to chat here again. I didn't meant to hurt or offend anyone. I forgot I was not talking to myself so I apologize again for any bad feelings I have caused. I will be more careful next time.
I hope you all have a good day and nice weekend. I am trying to get to helping my husband with his shower today. I finally got mine two days ago I think. It felt so good after the shower and hair wash.
I got to feeling better once I put some water and food in me, but fatigue kept slamming me. I stayed down
I have some spray Comet, if you haven't tried it I recommend it. I sprayed it ony tub let it sit there for an hour and rinsed off, it's sparkling clean, no scrubbing needed. I discovered this ability on a plastic cutting board that was stained that I had sprayed and came back to later. I can't stand the smell though.
I'm playing it low key again. I still have some stirfry so I don't have to cook.
Serenity I thought of you I put a little olive oil my wok and fried some chickpeas to toss in with my stirfry last night. Good stuff. I'll have to remember them for a snack.
Moonie how can I save my poor wilted Christmas cactus? Is it alright to repot it?
Sandra did you rest back up last night? Any shows or anything happening or do they stop during the cold season?
Lavi if you delete something chances are no one saw it. We just don't get on that much. That's one thing you can write off your stress list!
Carly Jean I keep missing you! Are you getting any sleep yet? Do I need to call you zombie?
Serenity I have chickpeas left over bring it on!
Keep warm today and let the sun shine on you!
Peace love harmony XOXO
Thanks for starting us off Nonie. It's been frosty and chilly in greater London but no snow where I am. Wrap up warm, lots of layered clothing.
I'm bad with indoor plants also, actually I'm not that great with out door one's either, but I try lol.
Lavender, your ok, just breathe, we are glad to have you in our little group.
I fell asleep after work Thursday and Friday. I was more tired Thursday as my sister took me and Milo to the vet to get his name trimmed. It's nice now his nails are not getting caught up on my clothes evertime he tries to get round me!
We just got back from having a nice meal out with family members.
On Netflix we are currently watching The Witcher blood line. Enjoying it so far. We just finished watching Kaleidoscope. That too I recommend.
Noni, your young man sounds wonderful. I love Jamaican food. What a nice gesture! I hope you get those muffins made.
Lavender, I’m glad that you were encouraged to come back.
I’m having trouble posting anything on my phone, but not in the coming week bc I’llbe signing a lease!!! I got a call to come sign an extension on Section 8, then later a call that the repairs had been done to my place and I could sign the lease next week!!!
Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support during this time I never thought I’d be in.
I think such a load is off that I’m just resting today. I hope I can make it the home I need.
Sometimes on Saturday folks come in later or there way be trouble getting in.
Hugs n hope to all!
We don't have that spray here Toni, at least I've not seen it. Take care and enjoy your stir fry.
Serenity, yes me too with the error code. Hooray, I wish we could all have a house warming at yours when you finally move in !
Noni (Lisa) - I used to watch a lot of the Canadian prank shows and liked them very much. Canadian people seem so happy from the shows. I met some nice Canadians in Thailand and U.S., not many but enough to feel they are not complete strangers. I thought you are American when I read the page on your blog site. I am so screwed up financially it seems too late to do anything about it. The more depressed I get, the more I spend. I was this way when I was a young child. A fortune teller looked at the palm of my hand and told me I was someone who didn't know how to save money according to the lines he saw. It is strange how some fortune tellers can tell what kind of person you are just by your birth date and the time of the day you were born. They all told me I have problem with spending, sounds like a "predestination" to me. An area that I would like to improve is to be less pessimistic about the future. We are doing fine financially right now despite the screwed up.
serenity - I am so happy for you about the housing situation. I hope you like your new home.
Sandra - Thank you for putting up with my long private messages. I think "Hugh Grant" brought a lot of joy to his woman fans. I like him in "Mickey Blue Eyes," saw a lot of his movies.
I started watching this short movie on youtube "Christmas With A Prince (2018) | Full Movie | Kaitlyn Leeb | Nick Hounslow | Josh Dean." Not sure I will like it. I am going back to watch it now.
You all have a good day today.
Lisa-Glad to see you starting off, at times it's difficult to post on fb. I do hope you have a nice relaxing weekend. I also ordered plant lights to put into a side server where I removed the doors and have succulents in there with the plant lights.
Lavender-You are just fine and there are a few of us that are also adamant about doing what's right with both the planet and humans, so we just might voice an opinion, too. It's all good.
Toni-I use the spray comet too, it does a miraculous job. Take care this weekend and be diligent in staying well and upright. About 40 years ago metric measurement was on the ballot and it was voted down with an overwhelming majority. I was alone in wanting it. Toni, trim the CCactus and repot. One of mine is in the garden window and blooming right now. I water when dry and do fertilize when spring starts with every other watering. You can make new babies with the cuttings by placing in water until roots appear.
Serenity-You made my day!! Now you can go forward and live a life worthy of of your self and eventually get a kitty, feed the squirrels and have a garden. Is it the duplex?
Sandra-do you have windows that stream sunlight into the room? You could put up a shelf across it and have houseplants that do amazing. There are plants that would do amazingly well.
Today I've been moving kitchen appliances I use on a daily basis into a large dresser under the TV. It's deep enough to place the larger appliances and other things. I'm going to repaint it a muted grey green with pink and gold highlights.
PEACE
I am going to finish watching the "Prince" movie. I have the feeling I may not like this movie but I could be wrong.
Serenity that's the best news! I'm so happy for you! If we could only bring you plants in the Spring to celebrate! I'm sure you feel a load has lifted off of you! Congratulations!
@-€--
Sandra I just happened upon the spray so you never know. No one has ever said I typed fast before!
Lavi remove the fortune teller from your head. Things can always change. Don't let anyone else determine your fate. I've lived very financially poor, but was rich in everything else so it didn't matter to me at all.
Thanks Moonie I will try that. The last one I had flowered so pretty and then did the same so I'm doing something wrong. Probably the plant food. I like your appliance cabinet idea.
I ate some stirfry and half a banana to get some potassium in me. I have to get my energy level up in some way. A bottle of Gatorade would do me good, but I'm not going to drive. I think I'll ride on Serenity's good news!
Oh the easiest house plant I have is Jade. I knocked a branch off and stuck it in the soil and it's grown at least 2 inches. They don't require a lot of sunlight either.
Toni - I have to sell some of the clutter as a solution to the spending. My daughter is good with posting pictures, and I am good with wrapping the items, and we have a car. We used to sell my husband's old books.
Thanks for encouraging me to stop listening to the fortune tellers. I am actually staying away from them because the Bible says not to listen to them. Somehow about seven years ago, a Thai friend of mine in Thailand took our birth dates and had her fortune-teller friend give predictions. It was very strange how she knew about the spending problem issue, and she said my husband would survive the latest brain tumor surgery, and he did. She said my husband "will not die." I don't mess with any fortune teller stuff because I don't believe it but some of the things they said in the past were accurate (the future predictions). I wonder how they knew it. One of them told me after looking at the palm of my hand and my birth date and time of birth and maybe the actual day (which is Friday in my case) and told me at 23 I would experience a big loss. He couldn't tell me what kind of loss, and I became ill with mental illness at 23 and felt I lost everything. In Thailand people believe in spirits. I, too, believe The Holy Spirit in Christianity communicates with humans. I believe in the speaking in tongue stuff.
I'd better go to get the fast food and finish watching my "Prince" movie. Don't worry about me and fortune tellers. I am not listening to them anymore, I mean I don't go to fortune tellers for guidance or predictions of my future. There are fake ones out there, and the Bible forbids it.
I will check back later. Hope everyone feels good today and sleep well.
Toni, glad you enjoyed some chickpeas with your stir fry.
Can’t wait to choose some flowers.
May have to buy this comet spray for a nice wipe down of everything. Yes, the duplex.
Lav, I be trouble with saving, but I’ve had to save so much lately that I really enjoy it. Maybe putting it away first thing is a way to try.
I’ve slept all day. I think it’s the first truly relaxed sleep in a while.
And I think I’ll have another nap.
Miss merry.
Sweet dreams all.
Just want to let everyone know that I like that "Prince" movie very much. Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxULfBGieKk The movie's title is "Chritmas With A Prince." It is one of those feel good movies, and I did feel very good watching it. The Prince is a tall man with a lot of muscles. The woman is skinny and a lot shorter than the Prince. They remind me of Beauty and the Beast!
Serenity - Thank you for the advice (putting money away). I have some rainy days money put away, unbelievable but as they say, God works in mysterious ways. We have to pay the credit cards' balances forever though.
I guess this is bedtime for most members. So good night and also sweet dreams!
Lav fortune tellers are trained to beat odds on numbers. The what is most likely.. I can count on something bad happening to you next year, but not what it is, because bad things happen to everyone every year. I could tell you something good is going to happen, but you won't notice as much, though many more good things will happen than bad. The odds of health are 50-50 so it's better to give the one with the money something that's good news with something so serious. If it comes out good you'll talk only good about her, if it comes out bad how can you blame her for a medical problem. They're hucksters. Be prepared for entertainment only. I knew someone that did phone sex, a very large older woman, but who knew on the other end. They follow a book that tells them what to say. So much for these young hotties they show on TV. There's people that will do about anything for money. I'm glad you liked your movie. Do you have to subscribe for them? Chinese food is so good! I hope you enjoyed it.
I've paid around all day except to do my usual kitchen cleaning.
I've been eating fruit and tomorrow I'll cut up the pineapple I got the other day, that should start recharging me. I can already feel the potassium from the bananas lessening my pain.
Luma has been extra loving all day. She's turned into such a mamas girl. She can get a little overbearing with it at times, but that's cats huh?
Have a peaceful evening
Thanks for your advice about fortune tellers. I agree there are a lot of fake ones out there. I am not sure whether there are any real ones. Just surprised how a few of them could tell about things that only you knew. My husband's friend, who passed away many years ago, was teaching in Indonesia and met a fortune teller who he said knew a lot of things about him. A fortune teller in Thailand told one of my best friends her future husband was someone with a bullying personality, and she actually married someone like that. Every fortune teller told me my future husband was a good man and was either the same age as me or younger, and I married my husband who is five years younger than me. I no longer talked to any fortune tellers after I became Christian at 20. As I said I am not sure there are real ones.
We didn't make it to get the Chinese take out because my daughter and her friend talked on the phone for more than four hours. I like the Prince movie I watched. Most of the movies I watch on youtube recently are for young people. I think I still like fairy tales. Most of the movies I watch now are on youtube. We have cable. My husband watches the old series (Bonanza? and Gun Smoke). My favorite kind of movies is the romantic comedy. Last night I saw another one called "Little Italy." The lead male and female are young. Almost everyone in the movie speak English with Italian accent. Jane Semour, who is in one of the James Bond movies, is in it too. She is old now. It is a good one if you like young people's romance. I watch pretty much any kind of movie but ghost movies often give me nightmares.
I have to go back to sleep now. I hope everyone wakes up to a nice day. Happy Sunday everyone.
