People working advocating against the death penalty should be getting petitions to every governor in the US filled with names... Perhaps the time has come that they'll start to listen

I would also love to see it made much easier for DNA to be tested post conviction in all of our countries

Fortunately many more people are starting to realize that this does happen and it's not the rare happenstance that governments would like society to believe

Thank God people are being exonerated... The laws of the land aren't working.... I don't know what the answers are... There are predatory people that we do need protection from... I've watched news shows on law and order in many countries and North America has it much better then most places believe it or not however it's still not good

I disagree, I believe that most people still think that wrongful convictions are rare, and even when proven to be wrong, they think that the person was guilty of something else.

It's horrendous, but I think that getting convictions overturned is still luck.

I didn't say most people Patti....I think many more people are understanding wrongful convictions aren't a rare occurrence due to DNA...
Unfortunately there are a ton of wrongful convictions that aren't DNA

More often then not it is the poor, disadvantaged people due to not having decent legal council
Shitty lawyering causes a lot to be found guilty that shouldn't happen

A close friendship that I've developed trying to help a man in Louisiana get his conviction overturned has been incarcerated for almost 35 years
He has great advocates completely on his side however it's a very old case and not DNA

He was into drugs (as you said something else)... He and his family sued their police dept when he was 13 years old and one due to a brutal beating on a poor black boy...
It was a death penalty case and took one day for the whole case!!... How can that happen??

I know that this isn't your case R... Your case is another type of nightmare... Huge hug...x
