So I managed to barely qualify for the expanded Medicaid in my state recently. However, when I got my card in the mail it came with a new unpleasant surprise. Apparently it only covers me for several months and not the whole year (despite applying and being approved for it before the end of last year).

So if anything happens during the months Medicaid isn't covering me, it could be cripplingly expensive for me.

that's awful...I do not know how the medicaid system works for the recipient, it is crazy to only give it to you for a few months.

That's in addition to the problem that very few doctors will even accept Medicaid in my state since it pays them so little (doctors here apparently also charge twice as much as in any other state).

The doctor I've been seeing for years (for other issues not related to abuse or trauma) has agreed to keep seeing me and accept Medicaid for me. However, they revealed that part of the problem with Medicaid in my state is that it takes YEARS for a claim to be paid by it.

It's no wonder most doctors here refuse to accept it. It doesn't pay them and they can't stay in business if their patients are all trying to use Medicaid.

Apparently Medicaid here isn't even being run by the state. The state hired some third party company to handle it and said company has evidentally really screwed things up.

Found out the pharmacy I've been going to for my meds diesn't accept Medicaid. Now I have to find another pharmacy to go to that does accept it.

When my mother found out about this she got pissed off at me because the pharmacy doesn't accept Medicaid.
