My Son Had Near Sids When He Was 4Months Old......

My son was 4 months old when he had near sids, he is now 2 years old. Its hard to think that the years with him have gone by fast. I try to live every day as if its my last with him, all the bad story's i hear about how peoples kids survive sids and everything goes right and they wake up one morning to find out that he is gone. I have not slept in my own bed since my son came home, i really don't sleep and when i do some one has to be looking out for him, my son (Damien) is now mentally challenged, his father whom i am now with puts full blame on me for what happen even though he wants my son put into a home, i am so lost right now

Sorry, I know this is an old post but I'm looking for someone who is going through the same situation as me. I saved my baby from SIDS 3 times. We don't know yet if the lack of oxygen has caused any developmental problems yet. I fee the same as you, I don't sleep.. I have post traumatic stress from the 'episodes' he had.

Ok, I have just finished reading through the replays and it appears this is not the supportive group I was looking for. My doctor actually told me my son had a 'near miss SIDS' and what they sometimes describe as a 'SIDS syndrome'. I was also told SIDS was not preventable so there was nothing I could do to prevent him from passing but if he were to pass it would be considered 'SIDS'. All tests and procedures came back normal so no other condition to cause this. ANYWAY... I'm new here and can't find how to remove my comment before I upset anyone.

I was always told I had SIDS. My sister said she came in my room and I was blue. She took me to the hospital. Apparently I had too many stuffed animals in my crib. I was told I had SIDS, but it never really made sence to me because I didn't die. Anymore info anyone could give would be appreciated. Haven't ever really did any research on the subject though.

I woke up March 26, 2016 to find my 7 week old baby boy lifeless. He was cold and blue. I did CPR and he started breathing. He suffered severe brain damage and now has seizures and high possibility of going blind and having many delays and he has to go through physical, occupational and speech therapy. The doctors rulled out everything and it came down to Near/interrupted SIDS and ALTE. They said he would be diagnosed with Near SIDS. Any other mom's o through this?

My daughter survived SIDS. Woke up one morning and she was not breathing. Had no pulse. Over an hour of infant CPR finally brought her back. She never had any apnic events or any signs of being unhealthy. She was medivaced to UNC chapel hill where she stayed for almost 2 months. They did bronchosopys to see if she had a floppy air way, she didnt. Ran every genetic test they could think of. All negative. A genetists and several doctors sat me down and told me that my daughter is a medical miracle. They found no signs of aspiration. No signs of choking. She was not smothered. And has no history of apnic events.

I had near miss sids. I believe it was caused by neurological issues but we never figured out what caused my total body shut down. That why it's classified as sids and now near miss sids, if they don't know why or what caused the issue, that how it's listed. I died over 200 times in my first two years. I was watched 24 hours a day and hooked to monitors. I'm almost 40 now. There is hope. It just takes a lot.

I survived near-miss SIDS. I died over 200 times. I was on monitors until I was 2 and also had someone watching me 24hrs a day. A lot of children will never survive. I went in to the military for intelligence. My daughter has neurological disorders. Genetic issues run in our family. We are all very small. It's called near-miss SIDS because the child is clinically dead and revived with no cause that can be identified. Yes, a child can survive but it's very hard, very time consuming and you'll need help. The hospital let my folks borrow a monitor so I could go home. I would turn it off and take the monitors off me. They had to get an additional alarm to warn them of that. Good Luck!
