Stroke Support Group

A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

Caring for my husband who had a hemorrhagic stroke in October, been home from rehab since after thanksgiving, trying to manage working from home and caring for him who needs help with baths and can't drive, I should be grateful cause he couldn't even use the toilet on his own when we got home but have so many fluctuating emotions cause his not taking his bp meds prior to stroke was what caused it...im angry and exhausted....

Hi Abby24, He's the same. Everthing un gids gands. Im glad you had a good time wi a h your family too. Keep the faih my friend.Im glad to see your enjiying life. Take a break from the reality of everyday life. I also watch mov IU es and play Pikemon in between time. Lol. What else do you do to try to relax. Take care my friend

Hi Sandra, I hope your having a good week! I like movies, watching Netflix, jogging, reading and meditation...it's been nice getting a little more normalcy in our lives since we've been home. My husband keeps wanting to get in his truck which is way too high for him so it's been challenging talking him out of it for now. I'm grateful he's better though, I pray for you and your husband! No worries on the typos I knew what you meant ☺️ Sending blessings your way!!!

My husband had stroke. Right side affected. It was in July 2018. He came home in september. I had just got outsourced from my job of many years a month before stroke. So I was home. Sad thing is that I couldnt collect unemployment because I couldn't actively look for work. He goes to outpatient 3x per week now. It's the first time I've had to myself. I started a journal the first week of stroke. Once he got home, I didn't have much time to write in it anymore. He walks with assistance, and not much movement in hand yet. I feel frustrated. He gets miserable and smashes around in chair, calls me every name in the book. It's hard.. The retirement plans we made seem to be a lost dream. But we keep plugging away. So I hear you. I had to fight to get him to go the day of the stroke. We didn't get there in time for meds. When someone you love has a stroke, you do too. I can't go and do anything much either. Then you feel guilty feeling that way. So it's tough.
