The CDC claims that nicotine is a "very addictive drug" that can be "as addictive as heroin or cocaine." Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. If you are trying to kick the habit, this community is dedicated to giving smokers the...

and saw a commercial reguarding Chantix...it was for a major lawsuit. If you are thinking about using this product, please read this as it may not be for everyone:
Neuropsychiatric Symptoms
Serious neuropsychiatric symptoms have occurred in patients being treated with CHANTIX. Some cases may have been complicated by the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal in patients who stopped smoking; however, some of these symptoms have occurred in patients who continued to smoke. All patients being treated with CHANTIX should be observed for neuropsychiatric symptoms including changes in behavior, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal ideation and suicidal behavior. These symptoms, as well as worsening of pre-existing psychiatric illness, have been reported in patients attempting to quit smoking while taking CHANTIX in the post- marketing experience. Patients with serious psychiatric illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder did not participate in the pre-marketing studies of CHANTIX and the safety and efficacy of CHANTIX in such patients has not been established. Patients attempting to quit smoking with CHANTIX and their families and caregivers should be alerted about the need to monitor for these symptoms and to report such symptoms immediately to the patient's healthcare provider.

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

Thank you for topic.
My doctor was way ahead of the curve. I tried
Chantix twice and became severely suicidal twice.
The reports are showing that some with Major Depression can not take Chantix. As for the FDA
pulling it off the market----are you guys nuts??
Do you have any idea how much money these drug
companies make in profits; and what they do with
those profits? A lot of those profits go into
medical research. And, since when do we put our
government to act in our best interest? The government only tells us what it thinks we are
ready to handle, etc. They are not going to cut
their own throats by losing money on a very profitable drug. Like all those folks that died
from the diet drug; phenfen. And all those folks
that died from the arthritis pain meds? Um??????
The government might finally step in after there
are countless deaths. I am NOT bashing Chantix.
It is a wonderful drug for some or most people.
It has helped countless people quit smoking and
saved countless lives. Now, how do you keep the
blinders on and ignore that SOME, a FEW people can
not take it. Get real. Do some reading. Do some
research. Open your minds up; please. Just because
you took Chantix and it worked great for you-----does not equal that it will work for everyone.
Aspirin helps countless people. It KILLs a few
people that are allergic to it. Penicillin helps
countless people. It caused me to go into shock
and quit breathing. Things are not BLACK or WHITE
in our world; they are GRAY. Hope I did not make
anyone mad, but facts are facts.
It is so great to hear from you.You had to go and open up a can of worms, didn't you???LOL
As with ANY medication, a doctor should moniter you. Chantix (and my DS family) were what has kept me off cigarettes for 6 months(tomorrow) I could never have gone cold turkey and I broke out in a rash from the patch.
Different strokes for different folks...
Missed you..
Love you,Deb
