It was the second time trying to quit with chantix , first time did not work to well.
Second time I adapted the dose (cut it in half after a month).
woooooo hoooooo, it worked. Been a none smoker for over 4 years.
I don't have horrible urges, desire, or triggers and I believe that it is due to the severe anxiety I am experiencing.
The year before I quit, I was so ready to quit but kept making excuses such as stress, loss, divorce, and the list goes on and on.
I give my doctor credit becuz she was more than willing to help me in any way she could.....tons of support and a very good cheerleader.
I also entered my quit with a positive attitude which IMO really makes a difference.
That's my story in a nutshell :)
I also drank tons of water and took up walking.....kept busy too!
Also, I sure was ready to quit and had a good attitude about it. I knew I wasn't giving up anything, only gaining a longer, healthier, happier life.
I believe the reason that I have been able to remain smoke free is because MY reasons to quit are stronger than my desire to smoke.
I also changed some of my old habits. The thing I found the hardest was missing my morning smoke with a cup of coffee. So I quit drinking coffee also.
Everyday I still remind myself of all the good reasons to remain smoke free.
