Does anybody's life consist of strictly school, job seeking, church, doctor's, grocery store, gas station, volunteering, and free or cheap events?

I'm so sick & tired of married women telling me they are in the same exact shoes. I had 2 surgeries recently....do you know how how hard it was to do it alone??? There's a lot more to the story than just 2 surgeries also. Why do women INSIST that there life is so hard, scary, lonely when they are married? They are totally insulting their husband. I remember a time where I had 4 flat tires, and I was really upset because I have 2 boys to pick up at 2 different schools and it's time to leave, I don't feel good...etc....someone leaving my workplace says---ohhhhhh, what's wrong? I told them and they said...oh, well listen to this....my son's pregnant girlfriend had a flat tire, and he had to help her but couldn't....so I know what you are going through...
What's wrong with people?

i hear ya. I've been a single mom for going on 8 years and there are very few that actually DO understand the fustrations and complications of raising kids on our own!

Alot of times, I just let it go when people tell me they so completely understand....they simply don't. The only one that DOES completely understand and "get it" is God.

Thank you...I know ur right....today I just got frustrated cuz I have a flat tire....and I just came from the place where I got the tires fri, and was there earlier in the week....I took many trips this week to get parts for my car..so for several weeks been dealing with my car...before that is was health issues....I just wish I had a friend to go have a cup of coffee with....this is the only website I have ever found where strangers respond....so thank you....how's your world going?

I hear you. First they say how they understand. Then they say how I ought to get out sometimes and do something for myself. How the heck am I supposed to do that? Even if I had somewhere to leave my kids, when did I make and cultivate all these friends, and how am I going to pay for it?

oh Thriver, I hear you!! I literally grind my teeth when I hear someone say "you know what you should do...." or " have you tried....."

a friend of mine told me yesterday, you should go out....ok...where would I go? And who pays for the sitter? And who pays for whatever it is I think I should be doing???? Really?

So instead, I concentrate on getting through TODAY, and when my kids are grown and independent of me, I will have time for me. Why rush it?? They aren't going to be this size forever and then what will I do with myself? LOL

But everyone is supposed to have a life single moms included.

Right after we get done making dinner, cleaning up after dinner, putting the kids to bed, doing laundry, picking up the housework and homework if you are in school.And the other nine million things we do in a day.....

Now your supposed to go out and do something, how about I sit breath and have a cup o joe.

Ohh and the one night I might possibly get to go out the few friends I have are busy....oh yea... single moms are such party animals.

As a fellow-single mom...I get it! And this is the only place where I've met other's that really get it too.

I too get tired of the day-in-day-out mundane tasks, like the dishes and laundry that never seem to end, and so on.

There's just soooo much to having to do everything on your own - so many things...and it feels like every time you turn around, something else is added to the already growing list!

I hear you! And there are those of us - especially here - that can absolutely relate. You're not alone!

p.s.... I can relate to the "no friends" part too (not proud to admit it though!). I know people and go to playgroups where I socialize and stuff... but have yet to meet anyone I feel I can really connect with.

I find that when you have kids, so much shifts (friends I used to have are single and didn't get it either, and we grew apart).

Our situation can be very frustrating at times, can't it.

Im recently separated. A friend from the ball field invited me and my boys for dinner with her and her husband and two boys. I was shocked. Most married women really dont want a single woman hanging around. And so few people, no matter what the situation, really open up their homes to others these days. Im still from the old school where you get to gether, hang out and let the kids play. No pressure. Shoot the breeze with an ice tea. I was so greatful for her thoughtfulness!

OMG, I totally "get" your story. I can sympathize...everyone else (who's not a single parent) knows exactly what "you should do". The best one I heard was someone "knew exactly what my situation was like" (being a single parent) because her husband worked an off shift and so they were never home together. Really? Because he would make their dinner before he left for his second shift job...and he did housework. Hmmm...that's not at all like being a single parent. Sorry to vent too. Maybe I should have created me own thread. I know I can't take away your frustrations and I can't make your life easier, but I hope you do get a break here or there. You deserve it.

i totally understand when you say, other people say they understand and tell you a lame story. but in reality they dont know about all the little things that could make your day easier or even worse. and then its just one thing after another. its like having to plan for and care for yourself and your kids without anyones extra hand to help. they dont understand that your doing things 3 x's over just to get through the day.
i dont have the options of church, job seeking or even taking care of my own vehicle, but its similar, having to travel to get to the nearest town to get groceries, potty training, daily household chores and worrying about getting bills paid. doing things not once but 3xs and making a living of each day.
heres hoping to a better day for you even if you have 4 flat tires to deal with
