Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
My ex and I split exactly a year ago because of his infedility, but divorce was final Dec '18. I buried all of my emotions and they are now bubbling to the surface fast. We have a two year old daughter together but he doesn't get to see her often, being in the military and living in another country for the next 3+ years. He has a new girlfriend whom he's gone back to his high school ways with (matching nose rings, that sorta thing). And I'm raising our daughter. I would have her over anything else anyday. But mentally, I feel like a zombie trying to escape the constant blur of questions and revisiting memories from last year that are swirling in my head. I'm trying to work through it all and move on but I don't know where to start. I have no idea how to rebuild my self esteem and confidence. This is more of a personal issue than it is a mommy one, but I'm looking for any and all advice on dealing with newly divorced, self-doubt emotions.

there has been considerable popular press on the social impact of misogyny (hatred of women). misandry (hatred of men) seems socially blessed. poor girl. how right you are to hate the evils of men. never mind that harboring hatred burns holes in your soul. those evil creatures are worthy of all the hate we can muster.i have 5 brothers, 5 sisters and 3 sons and 2 daughters. i hold that misandry is...

I can also understand the annoyance and frustration that must appear, seeing him living the way he is. It's time for you to find you. What do you like to do? Where are your favorite places to go? Do you allow yourself time to relax, and to just be yourself? And if you don't know, the only thing you can do is try new things until they stick. You have been given a great chance to start over with yourself and your child. Once you are in tune with who you are, I think you may find you can't be bothered with him anymore, except for when it comes to your child.
Sending you many blessings and best wishes. And thank you for sharing.
The best thing that helped me tremendously was getting into a divorce support group. There's a group called DivorceCare and it's nationwide, so you can google it and most likely there will be a group in your area somewhere. The format is when you come in, the first part is spent on discussing how the past week has been, what challenges have been happening, what good things have been happening. It helps so much to hear everyone's stories and realize others "get it." Then we watched a video about 30 min. long on a different topic each week, like: Fear, Anger, Loneliness, Depression, Finances, Dealing with Kids and Divorce, Forgiveness, etc. Then we would discuss any challenges we had coming up the next week. It's a 13 week format, but it helped so much that even when I'd been through all 13 sessions, I just kept going through, I recycled through the format four times because it helped so much to know I wasn't alone and others really got it. Being with people who boosted my self-confidence really helped.
