Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
Anyone out there feel as overwhelmed and frustrated by the demands you face everyday that go along with being a single mom?
I find that one day I'm fine and the next (or next hour) I could get easily set off at something that may not otherwise bother me.
I've been sleep deprived for the two years since my daughter was born. I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder when it comes to the demands I face everyday. I have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning just because of how tired I feel - my body just doesn't feel ready to get up (my little one is a restless sleeper and wakes me during the night).
I'm a stay at home mom as well as work from home too - not an easy feat at all, but I love my work. I own my own house, which is in a remote area (small town) that requires things like bringing in wood (while trying to recover from a herniated disk in my back), shovelling tons of snow (I live in the north of Canada) from my driveway, walkway, and roof. Being an older house I deal with maintenance such as leaks and other repairs etc, that I can't afford to hire someone to do. I have an 11 year old dog that just doesn't want to listen anymore, and who poos all over my walkway outside - and sometimes inside now (never used to), and who I have to keep confined to an area in the house because my daughter is allergic to his saliva (she's fine petting him but breaks out in hives if in contact with his mouth etc). I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that I just feel overburdened by the demands I face each day and think it's having a real affect on me.
When do you know your moods are because of the demands you face or when it's hormones? I know the demands combined with being sleep deprived have an effect on how I feel and how I handle stress or frustration. I just find myself more frustrated than I've ever felt before, and at times so easily set off.
Anyone else feel this way or understand? Any feedback is welcome.

I've written a list for myself, and am mentioning it because maybe it could be helpful to others. One category is about how I can make my life easier, another is more fulfilling, and the other column is less worry. I'm finding it helpful - it's a relief to look at areas that I can improve and change to make things better.
