Herpes zoster, colloquially known as shingles, is the reactivation of varicella zoster virus, leading to a crop of painful blisters over the area of a dermatome. It occurs very rarely in children and adults, but its incidence is high in the elderly (over 60), as well as in any age group of immunocompromised patients.

bad day

my head is splitting open like an earthquake--bad day. i had 2 good days before. i notice that i cannot socialize past 8 pm--i really start hurting. my doc said--it goes up and down --up and down--i just have to lie down and let it pass.
no one except us guys can understand how miserable and tortuous this is.

When it's a timing pain like you mention, often it takes a combination of rest, relaxing, and refreshing food and/or liquid to feel less pained.

thanks so much. another bad day. it will change though. heaven know how I get through work like this. i am afraid to drink liquor--because of meds. Actually it is good that I am not drinking. It contributed to y weight problem in th past...

Hope you will soon feel much better. Rest, care for your health in general, fresh fruit and vegetables, fruit, enough water etc. Care for all of you to help your body fight the shingles. Try to avoid stress - if stress comes your way, leave it outside the door, you can pick it up later - if you WANT to. I( found clean sheets every day made me a little more comfortable) Also tepid water to clean the affected area, and pat dry. Have your own towel - there should NEVER be a family towel anyway, bad practice.

    I did the dumbest thing today.  I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds.  I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym.  What a dummy!

    Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job.  It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it.  Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown.  There was a full length mirror in the changing room.  I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like.  It was a reality check.
