would I have been happy?

Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you weren't assaulted? I think of all the issues it caused me throughout my life and often wondered how it would be with no issues... grow and live as a normal person... not having the sexual hangups or the emotional issues... for me I became insecure, angry, and in my relationships, I was never comfortable with certain sexual acts...those and more... having those ruined my relationships. 


I was robbed of my life... here I'm 48 and still haven't felt what happiness feels like

I think if I had not suffered sexual abuse I would have gone through life without the richness of culture and the arts. In our house growing up we had no books, no one in the family read and no one looked for cultural interests. I would have married a man on my level who didn't read either. Instead I married a man outside of my experiences. I tried to push him away but he stuck like glue. He taught me the joy of reading good books and how to appreciate the good things in life. Plus laughter, he would rather have a good laugh that sex and during sex was always kind and considerate. So I was a lucky one, my family still don't read or go out to concerts and the like.

My life without what all happened to me.. I don’t want to know..
I like the things I’ve eorled through, and the person I’ve turned into much better than really thinking `how might i’d be if nothing ever happened to me... or to anyone else for that matter’ why should I be the only one who never got hurt in anyway?? I’m glad this site is here, it gets me to see that all the lies I’ve heard and believed we’re all lies..
this DOESN’T happen to all kids, i really am worth something, I really am not alone, this has happened to many great friends, and others I’ve met along the way...

I am so sorry you feel this way. They say we all have to go through mourning for what might have been, even if we are happy with some of the ways that trauma has deepened us and seasoned us. I think I would have been caught up in image stuff and achievement stuff. Trauma has forced me to deal with the deep, deep stuff and consider the deep issues of humanity and society. But I have had plenty of fun along the way, even though I have always had to struggle with fear and shame.

    I feel so dirty and used  I was drunk and passed out at a party when I came around some guy was on top of me rapeing me he covered my mouth and told me to shut up afterwards he got up and got dressed and said I better not tell anyone I found my friend and reported that I had been raped  after having medical checks and them getting DNA I've taken the morning after pill IAM just so depressed and...
