Kweeks, I know that those that have been sexually abused DO act out on this. We can tend to use this loveless, joyless, pleasureless sex as a form of self abuse. It is common amounst us, as common as the opposite reaction of "don't touch me!" We KNOW it is not normal and don't really feel all that proud about it but it is, for me, a compulsive behavior that I cannot seem to stop doing. And the self blame and shame just keep piling up on top of the original problem. I am a 45 year old woman who knows only too well about STDs and looking for love in all the wrong places, but I am not looking for LOVE when I do this to myself. I am looking to hurt me in some sick way, looking also for approval from a man in the only way I was taught how. Yeah, this is not normal behavior to the rest of society, but for the folks who are recovering or trying to recover from sexual abuse? Why, welcome to our world.
I do agree that counseling is probably one of the only ways to get past this, but it is also one of the more difficult things to admit. It's a point of shame and no pride or respect for myself and I do NOT like admitting that, find it hard to. I also do not want to be judged, and I am trying hard to be abstinent but it's not easy.
I took a little bit of offense here, and I do apologize, kweeks, but something about your post got my dander up. I'm sure your post was not meant the way I took it. I'm sorry if you take offense at mine, but I needed to speak my mind.
