Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
What makes you want to cut? Often it’s that you might feel you have no control over your life, or a way of punishing yourself, or you need to feel pain to express your emotions, For me it’s that I have no emotions. I am completely numb. Every time I want to cut is normally when something has happened and it’s a way of expressing them, so instead I have had to work on a way of coping that works for me to express my emotions.
Journalling helped me somewhat. My therapist wants me to record the way I feel. What has helped me is trying to pair my emotions to words in songs to describe how I am feeling. Sounds weird but it’s helped. You might work on a coping method that works for you so instead of cutting you do something else,
I am not sure how to stop the urges, but once you start it’s hard to stop. I hope you find a way of coping and if you can’t you might consider calling the suicide prevention line who can help you through what your experiencing. Best wishes,
