Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
Why:
Listening to music increases dopamine levels by ten percent. If you're an introvert, reading is a great strategy to calm down and recharge. Walking releases healthy chemicals such as serotonin (just a small side note, chemicals released while walking and listening to music are almost the same as self-harming. The only difference is that it's healthier and less concentrated if one were to receive these "feel good" chemicals through exercise and music than self-harming or alcohol). Petting cute lil animals has been proven to lower stress levels. And... cliche beach pictures are just really pretty to look at and may help divert your attention elsewhere.
