Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.

Your current 2 week+ time gone without cutting is really, really good. I know that you are doing some hard work. You have done great by almost not cutting in 6 months, that is an amazing record. you sound like a very strong young woman, and that's what it takes for us to put the Self Injury and cutting behind us, it takes strength! I am very proud of how well you are doing.
Stopping self harm is a lot like withdrawing from and addition to drugs or alcohol. Because Cutting is a Learned Behavior and it's what our Brain goes to to find what makes us feel better when we're in emotional, truamatic, anxious or psychological kinds of pain. But there are other ways we can learn other ways to handle this type of pain, we can train our brains and bodies safe, effective coping skills, ways to handle the emotional, psychological, traumatic, anxious, sad pain.
You just have to be willing to learn, do the classwork and listen the therapist as the explain how it works and how you work the program. Many people use the DBT program all over the US and come out on the other side very glad that they did. I think that this program, whether you do it in a group, or do it on your own, by Workbook, will be a very good thing for you.
Take care,
Kat
