Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
I started cutting when I was 13, I'm 47, still cut off and on a few times a year, never a new cut, always over an old scar. Usually I can handle life, but I'm Bipolar as well and sometimes when the Depression is that bad, I'm not the best at controlling things.
Cutting (Self-Injury) is a learned behavior, it can be replaced by other safer healthier behaviors. Its not something that can usually just be stopped, it almost always has to be replaced by other behaviors, coping skills learned.
So, it can be stopped, it's not a disease to be cured, its a behavior to be replaced by different behaviors.....but it depends on the person.
