Scoliosis Support Group
Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.

I, have scholiosis of the lumbar, and I also have manic depression. My anxieities and depression keep me from doing a lot of exercises. Let's just say my energy gone it's drained. I have a few questions:
a) Should I ask for a back brace and have my back looked at and what are the benefits of a back brace and what are the disadvantages for those of you who have them?
b) I take lamictal and seraquel for my BP. Is there any pain meds or meds for the back that won't interact with these drugs? I also have mitral valve prolapse, so I probably won't be able to take an added drug that would have drowsy listed as a side effect.
c) my husband says he can't get me to a chiropractor because he says a) he went to one and his back problems only got worse something about they pop disks and move plates in your spine around making it so that you have to go back and get it done, or d) it's just too expensive and he is just making an excuse because he says his insurance will only cover 50 percent of said chiropractor bills.
I really need to do something, and I don't know what to do.
My back hurt me so bad, I couldn't shop today. I could hardly get myself out of the vehicle and my husband was embarassed enough to ask to let walmart let me use one of those ride around carts. He said somethin else happened to me instead I guess because he was to embarrased I guess to say that I had scholiosis so bad I could barely walk.
This makes me feel stigmatized and alone. I guess I am hurt because I feel like he doesn't care about me enough to ask if severe back problems that kept me from walking would be an allowable excuse to use those ride along carts. Needless to say he got me one, and I couldn't walk. I couldn't get out to look around at stuff let alone hardly get in to use the cart. Do I need to go ask my doctor for an excuse on days that really bug my back? Really hot and cold extremes and also rain make it hard for me to stand at times. I feel like I have arthritis but worse. I am so sad right now I want to cry. I know I should write it out in my journal, but all it would amount to me saying is I feel like I have a crappy husband who does not care and is not sensitive enough for my feelings. Oh yeah, might I add he told a depressed person, oh you're excuse is you just don't want to do the exercises and your mental ilness has nothing to do with it and you shouldn't be blaming it on that. I had someone on my friends list tell me their husband was lazy and the reason he doesn't do stuff is because he just uses his illness as a crutch and he really isn't emotionally drained. It was a guy who I care deeply about enough to have as a friend on my friends list, and it's that deep emotion to want to give him advice and help that keeps me going and hanging on and saying okay, I will try to learn to manage my feelings better. But, him doing this brings those same stigmatized feelings she told me about her husband. Ill treatment of the mentally ill is what it is. I want to cry so bad and scream out into the world, and say Dear God, when will it ever end? But I know, my answer is never. Because people who aren't mentally ill think that just because their normal they can perform an insta fix on the ones who aren't and it will act as a miracle cure.
Help. I'm desperate for advice

This has been up for two days. I am sorry if I am being impatient, but others have responded to other people's posts and not this one. I posted it in the advice column, and no one said anything or posted on it. What do I need to do to get a response around here beg?

Advice... call you insurance and see wheat they say about your chiro coverage. I went to a chiropractor and he was able to straighten my upper curve (which is compensating for my lower one...) and then i went to a Physical Therapist who said I shouldn't go to a chiropractor. At least have a consultation with your or a doctor about this. they will hopefully have the best advice. good luck.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
