Sciatica Support Group
Sciatica is a term meaning pain that originates from compression of the sciatic nerve, the longest and largest nerve in the body. If the sciatic nerve is pinched or compressed (perhaps by a bulging disc in the low back) a patient may experience leg pain--the classic symptom of sciatica.

My trip to the ER when I first got hurt was no longer than most. If it is very busy you may wait longer, if not then it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.
They documented what happened, where it hurt and took xrays. Then they told me to see a spine specialist for further study. The mri showed herniated discs, stenosis and some impingement. I was treated for the sciatica and still am being treated. My hip doctor was happy that I was seeing the spine doctor this way it was easier to tell what was causing what pain. Try and go see a spine doctor now. No need to suffer. If you need a referral either ask your hip doc or your primary. If you go to the ER, pick a day you really hurt so you can describe the pain well. They will give you some meds if you aren't on anything for the back.
Good luck and feel better.
