Yes..I also have itching only mine is up higher up my left back. My left hip is in constant pain and the left leg doesn't move very well. A few months ago I noticed the upper back had a very itchy spot. It drives me crazy ..I asked the chiropractor and he said it was connected to the pinched sciatic nerve in my lower back. The only way to get the itch to stop is to press in on it and hold it until the itch is gone. it is very strange. itches like a mosquito bite but there is no mark or sign of an insect bite.

Yes I get the same thing. It's such a weird feeling! I'll be sitting on my butt then suddenly get a crazy itch on my left butt cheek. Sometimes on my right too.

I do to but I never related it to my Sciatic nerve. I blame it on one of my Meds or something I have eaten. Interesting, I'll ask my Doc.

OMG! I get that too and I found out that it is the nerves in overdrive.

It is maddening tho. It is like creepy crawly itching like bugs. UGH!

Ask your Doctor and or Pharmacist if you can take a Benadryl.
I don't know if you are on Medications so be sure to ask to be safe.

Ok, after almost 5 years of reading blogs like this, I decided to leave a comment. Five years ago, this August, I noticed a small burning spot on my sitting bone when I scooted on the pew at church. In the next few weeks and then months, that dime-size burn became a bigger sore spot when I sat (only then) and then various symptoms spread throughout my body, to include, pins and needles on torso, itchy scalp, tingling on left fingers, facial rash across cheeks. These things only occurred when sitting. After a physiatrist, a neurologist and of course, my GP, and a few MRI's, ultrasounds and blood work, I was determined to have piriformis syndrome (my idea and he bought it) and spinal stenosis. PT was ordered and during that, a new symptom appeared: soggy feet feeling. This went on for a few years, me still looking for answers to the sitting bone pain. I worked with Chiropractors, a neurologist team in Bham, AL, a rheumatologist and still nothing was discovered. I later saw my wife's spinal surgeon in Atlanta and he said I DID NOT have spinal stenosis, but had no idea about the piriformis issue. Anyway, fast forward to now. A year ago, a hip surgeon in Nashville actually listened to me and didn't make cracks about me needing psychiatric help for my odd symptoms; they injected my left piriformis with steroids under the guide of ultrasound to make sure she hit the tendon. Up until now, all the orthopedists I saw, didn't offer an injection or didn't have any idea (one even said use a good seat cushion - it doesn't help). The injection worked and all my odd sciatica symptoms (spasms, light numbness, soggy feet) and the sore sitting spot, tingling hands, face rash, virtually went away (the sort sitting spot got better, but the "lump" was still there). Three injections later, the relief is not as good as it was a year ago and now I am trying reformer Pilates as a last gasp before Piriformis release surgery. Ironically enough, the Pilates has actually exacerbated all the symptoms. It appears, my hips tendons do not like core workouts. I am committed to about 10-20 classes (as recommended by the instructor) before I decide that nothing short of surgery will work. Anyway, thanks for listening. By the way, up until this issue at age 49, I only went to the doctor for an odd sinus infection. I have spent more on this issue than in my previous 49 years of combined medical care. Also, I did see a Rolfer two years ago and she did help with some symptoms and get therapeutic massages every month or so, and my current physiotherapist found that only dry-needling provides any relief (several hours). I am blessed that I do not experience pain, just discomfort and a lot of irritation.

Hello I am new to this site and hope there is hope in recovery. I have severe sciatic on the left side. First burning, etc. but now it's itching severing inside itch. What is this caused from?

Most of anti inflammatory pain killers cause itchiness as they damage our nerves .
When we have sciatica we use more of them . Side effects of these drugs
( ibuprofen or similar ) are nerve damage which cause restlessness, itching and more and more long term damage to our nerves and later worse sciatica.
