HI there, Last year I had to drop out of uni due to my illness (schizophrenia), I am back this year and have come close to dropping out once already, Am on medication again now but still having delusions and hallucinations (apparantly . . . ) and get the feeling I'm gunna have to drop out again soon - anywho back on point, I was just wondering how many people here have been forced to drop out? Has anyone managed to complete a degree while struggling with this illness? or hold down a job? or are we all just destined to be disability support for the rest of our lives??

I went to 4 junior colleges and 2 state universities on and off for about 10 years. I still have no degree. I had to drop out many times and finally gave up. I did graduate from a trade school but never worked in the field I certified in. None of my jobs have lasted more than 8 months before having a breakdown or getting fired because I was too slow to learn, remember and socialize. I have finally accepted being on permanent disability and living with my parents. Now my life is pretty much stress free besides my symptoms.

I have schizotypal personality disorder which is a little different from schizophrenia. I have a job. I graduated with an associates degree last spring, and I am now going to college full time for my BS in Crime and Justice. I am not on any medication to manage my symptoms. It is possible to struggle and function at the same time. If I can do it you can do it too. Keep at it!

I go to college online right now for human services. I struggle sometimes but only have two classes at a time so far and have managed great grades this far in....two quarters....will let ya know down the line if that changes. Hopefully it does not. I am also looking for a job but not having much luck so far.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ
