Hi,
I have been "encouraged" by a few people in my life recently to seek out therapy. It feels more like I'm being pushed, but I have initially acquiesced and put in a request to my Medicare provider for a therapist, which will take a couple of weeks, I am told, to go through..But the co-pay is $40 a session...and I survive on ONLY Social Security and there is no way I can afford that biweekly on a regular basis..In 2014 Medicaid is enlarging, bringing in many more poor people. I may just qualify this time...and also I am applying for SNAP (food stamps) too. It is just absurd. And I'm not sure I even WANT to go into therapy as my main issue, is seems to me is social isolation which the high cost of therapy would aggravate.. You may be seeing me more around here now, as I find most of you knowledgeable and understanding. I don't hear my neighbors talking about me through the walls that much anymore and I do believe sometimes they are talking about me in the hallway by my door for real...if it is hallucinations it is very convincing....I believe it is part of life, but I didn't used to have these experiences...so maybe I am hallucinating...how do others of you deal with such apparent delusions.??.......MaxH

For my delusions and hallucinations, the best course of treatment has been a combination of meds and therapy. Meds take care of the imbalance in my brain and my psychologist is a good sounding board who tells me when I am delusional or hallucinating and I have grown to trust him. I have Medi-medi and pay nothing for my psychiatrist nor my psychologist. I would have to say if I had to choose between one or the other (If I wouldn't go through withdrawals) I would choose my psychologist to guide me and help me. He has literally saved my live on a couple occasions.

Meds and therapy haven't eradicated my delusions or hallucinations but I wouldn't stop either. Both have helped dramatically. My therapist normally charges $120/hr but I only pay her $40 as per our agreement. She doesn't get reimbursed from insurance because she doesn't have her PhD. Therapy can be great! Someone besides yourself to talk and share with -- someone you can trust and confide in. Good luck to you - whatever you decide. We're always here!!

I worked out a payment plan with my therapist, maybe you could too? For my delusions/hallucinations meds DEFINITELY help, and therapy and coping skills like deep breathing and music. I live you SSDI too and it sucks. I hope this helps.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
