I can't shower without music, and it's the best remedy I know for voices.

yes ...i was just pointing it out to someone yesterday...my dog never leaves my side. where i go he goes ... tv also helps me ...my voices just disappear when i turn it on...didn't used to be that way though

i agree...i kiss my dogs on their heads...petting them calms me...walking them calms me...the great thing is that they don't care if i look terrible, smell terrible..they love me anyway...truest form of unconditional love...

My cat is on my lap on her side resting on my chest and arm as I type this post half on my keyboard. She is purring away which is my absolute favorite sound in the world. How can anyone resist a purring cat?

Yes, My cats make me feel happy and feel calm because they give me their love and accept my love.

Sometimes I find a song that makes me so happy I will listen to it over and over and over again, like 60 times in row for hours all afternoon long. I know that's kinda weird but I hear different parts of the song each time I hear it so I feel like I never fully memorize it.

no plywood, I cannot resist a purring cat either. that's why I have 3..lol however, they do have their human preferences. My black cat, jak prefers my daughter and the big manecoon cat, gemini, prefers me! the third cat, lucky, he just hops from bed to bed, whoever looks the coziest! haha

Music sometimes. Othertimes, music can sink my mood to the very depths of despair. Am depressive.

i don't have a pet, but music is very, very important to me. i write songs on various musical instruments every day, and often find i voice i don't normally have. it's great therapy for me.

i am looking into getting a psychiatric helper dog.

Unfortunately for me, voices started coming through electrical divides and technology. As for pets, my little Molly is a very important part of recovery.

My daughter couldn't get through the day without her 'Sergeant'(service dog) and music , with a headset, is one of the best things to keep the voices at bay.

@Mojo...good for you on thinking about a dog. There are trainers out there that do train just for psychiatric needs....but research ...I've know lots of folks that have got 'taken'. Love has trained her Molly to her needs ....you could do that too. Good luck.

Love, you mentioned that the voices come through electrical devices and so music is not a good option for you. I was the same way and then I stopped listening to live streaming music such as the radio and only listened to pre-recorded music from my ipod or dvd's. That way I knew what was going to come through the speakers and had no reason to get paranoid. Just a thought :)

Ditto, Plywood. I can't handle radio, but CDs and Pandora have been a huge blessing.

Ditto again to Plywood and Silent..the radio is no help for my daugher, it has to be music from CD with a headset or ear buds.
