Overwhelmed/Underwhelmed !!!

HI. I find myself overwhelmed with ideas (memiors, ficiton, piano playing, meeting new friends) and underwhelmed with the reality of my life. LIke I want so much but do so little..I think I need to simplify my "ambitions"..I will give this ficiton workshop a try and let all other things languish as they may, even the piano lessons (I hate/am unable to do the basic practicing...a long story but that's the fact)....it will be good for me to try to develop my fiction writing skills as it is the only thing I am remotely able to do and my interest in reading stuff is increasing = a new development...cool! Time to see what I can do this Sunday late morning...church is a no go for me, though I claim the oft applied attribute "spiritual but not religious" that they have on all these online "dating" sites of which I don't participate any longer) So let the spirit bloom where it may...my hope is it will provide some direciton....Amen.

Max, I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. I do the same thing, take on too many projects then start feeling overwhelmed with them all.

It's good that you recognize this and can decide which ones are more important to you and which ones you need to put on the back burner.

Thanks. Yeah, I forgot about that,,,baby steps...I am just starting to try to practice the piano...my true love...I have work assigned by my teacher and it is up to me when I have my next lesson (I have 7 remaining paid lessons credit)...it feels good to make the sounds on the keyboard (electronic with headphones, a very good one with weighted keys to feel like a real piano)...I don't know what else I'll do of all my ideas...nothing seems to work, except the piano. I will try to do three more pages of the memoir...that seems a wise choice in the end...hope you all are having good Sundays..I tried to go to the CAtholic church down the street but just took a U-turn and walked through a park and came home....enough is enough. Amen!! baby steps....

I have that feeling where my thoughts overwhelm me, and it scares me so much because that's when the voices creep in. Sometimes the fear of hallucinating dominates my day. But I'm in a safer environment now, so if it happens it's not as big a deal as before. Just one day at a time

Thanks, the piano is almost impossible to learn but I have fun just making various sounds on it. I don't know what I'm doing but it's music to MY ears!!! Need a little fun now and then, though practicing is well....the "monster" as Wynton Marsalis calls it..

Getting my ideas and notions into something the real world can provide is a huge challenge for me. When I pick up a trumpet, I want to sound like Wynton with the flip of a switch. I want Eric Clapton's eyes to get misty when he hears me play guitar.

Well, okay. Eric's eyes probably will get misty when he hears me play guitar, but for all the wrong reasons...

Do let the spirit bloom where it may, Max. It is okay if the bloom has a bug or two.

Hey, thanks....I love it when the "grown ups" (I'm almost 71 soon and still a kid) talk...you have a nice way of encouraging and giving your wisdom. I have recently become a big fan of Jeff Beck (Eric's ole buddy in the 60s Yardbirds?) and have, I think, all his albums...tomorrow is another day and I never know what to expect from myself.....very confusing!! But I love to freestyle it on the keyboard and pretend I'm a player!!

the one thats looking for you that you havent met yet would probly be out walking in the park too rather than inside the church

Thanks...yes, it's geographically nice where I live. The outdoors is just outside my 28th flloor window....I hope I don't lose it but can't afford it if I live to be very old...I have scheduled for today= piano practicing and going to the senior center for lunch (a test case after escaping the place a month ago) amongst other things. Thanks, as it turns out I couldn't make myself go to the senior center which is probably okay since I don't like it anyway. I just think I SHOULD go, theoretically, but in my opinion I am healthier mentally since I stopped. Also I've been better since I am with you "guys" here....I'ved decided to put my major attention to the writing workshop. Now I'll see how that goes tomorrow, since I am writing this tonight, I often wake up in the morning disagreeing with what I wrote in my online journal the night before!!! Go figure!! Yaye! Mad Men is back on Netflix with new seasons....the characters' personal habits and ethics are deplorable but it still manages to be an interesting show....better than the cop shows and comedies ,, IMHO...have a good night all.

The morning after = I've put away my memior and the fiction writing "workshop" with its textbook, of all things for writing ficiton!! AND will return to my original way of learning how to write which is just to write and read some and submit to a critiquing site I am part of for feedback...My heros Hemingay and Fitzgerald and Faulkner (taught in college) didn't have workshops and they managed quite well without them. Hemingway says read every thing you can get your hands on, and my own experience says to just keep writing. So that's where I am..hopefully I'll stay there for a long while and get something done.

You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol.
