I just got out of the psych hospital a few weeks ago and was doing ECT but it wiped my memory so they stopped it. Now, for the 43rd med I have tried, I am on invega. 9 mg. It seems to help but it's not perfect. My pdoc says that the max dose is 12 mg. Should I go up? Has anyone ever tried this?

hi, I am glad you're out of the hospital. I have never taken Invega. I can't advise you but it IS good you're out of the hospital!! Peace, Mark

I never had a problem going up on my meds dosage. Talk to your pdoc about it. If you are still having unnerving feeling/experiences then your pdoc needs to know. I have been on Invega. Like you I have been on just about everything and it caused too much lactation...its cousin is Risperdal which caused gyncomastia. If you start having that problem you will need to go off of it. Good luck! You are out of the hospital! Yay!

I have been recommended 6 mg daily of Invega for several years now. Invega and Risperdal are chemical equivalents. Invega is the new patent name for legal, profit and patent reasons. They have worked well for me as long as I supplement it with cannabis early morning and throughout day in a minimum sense. Psych Dr advised.

I ended up going up to 12 mg the other day and it is already a lot better. I feel almost "normal". And added xanax.

It is wroth noting that after 25+ years of taking this chemical I have developed Tourettes Syndrome, tics, seizures or whatever you call it depending on the doctor. The tongue is starting to try to protrude and drooling occasionally occurs without notice. These are known side effects of anti psychotics. I would like to change but usually these type of side effects are permanent. My psych dr discussed these things with me when in 1986 and I was told the benefit far outweighed the risk of these things. I am grateful for the health present.

Jacob I am so sorry. I see my pdoc today and am going to ask to go back to the 9 mg. After two weeks, not sure if the 12 mg does anything better except make me tired.

Keep us posted. Cannabis helps me with anxiety and tics. Psych dr recommended.

My boyfriend receives Invega injections. He said that it has helped him the most. I have watched them change his medications so much in just a few months. He is now on that, depakote and Seroquel.

I was on that but I hated it because It made me too tired and my muscles were stiff. I am on Latuda and I love it

Saw my pdoc yesterday and we are tapering off of invega and trying seroquel again. Thanks for your thoughts!
