My dog hurt her eye wrestling with another dog. It didn't look bad at first, but it is starting to look infected. I am afraid to take her to a vet because animal doctors have gotten to be as expensive as people docs. People docs have already put me drastically in debt. Am I out of line to call them ruthless? On the budget, at least. Insurance or not...

Hope your kitty thrives while your budget revives, max. I am on the hunt for how to help my friend without having to take out a third mortgage.

Certainly it wouldn't hurt to have a vet take a look at the eye...you can decide further after you have some info. The longer you wait, the worse it might get, if it's something..I don't know what to say about the money...it's frightening I know..can you borrow the intitial vet fee from someone...?? I hate these kind of decisions and I am facing old age and who knows what illnesses...sorry.There will most likely never be enough money for our needs, I think sometimes....hang in..you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Welll, my Olympia is doing well on the expensive chemicals the vet gave her and I am awaiting receipt of the herbal supplements in the mail. I've tested her out on a little bowl full of milk so now I know how I'll adminster the supplment twice a day, It will take several weeks for the new stuff to kick in, they say, so it will be tense until she gets the full improvement. I willl probably not telll the vet, or if there is trouble I"ll go to a new vet I've already picked out....yaye for our fellow furry creatures !!!

I am keeping her eye as clean as she will let me and monitoring closely. Keeping her bed extra clean. Kinda leery of putting anti-biotics so close to her eye. I am tempted to try a rosemary tea rinse.

Still too cowardly to make the vet call. My last visits were frightening adventures in new levels of insurance and maintenance plans. Not at all sure I wanna learn the rules, much less play the game. Especially if it is as "humane" as my people insurance.

Apparently I become more and more aware that money is the game the health industry (human and furrier species) is playing. Hopefully you can just have one visit...unless you have insurance for your dog and a health plan....I am not as evolved as that to be so committed, to the peril of my past pets. I've learned to be more responsible. Good luck doggy !!! I'm sure he/she knows you are trying to help her....I've seen a man stitch up a gaping wound in an elephant and the big thing just stood there taking it all peacefully though it must have hurt like hell...love heals...
